Qatar (Onshore / Offshore Oil & Gas Projects)

The Telecom Technician will be responsible for the installation testing operation maintenance and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems within Oil & Gas facilities in Qatar. The role ensures uninterrupted and reliable communication systems in compliance with project specifications industry standards and Qatari HSE regulations.
Install configure test and maintain telecom systems including:
Fiber optic and copper cabling systems
PAGA (Public Address & General Alarm) systems
CCTV access control and security systems
Telephone systems (IP and analog)
Radio communication systems (VHF/UHF/TETRA)
Data networks and structured cabling
Perform cable pulling termination splicing labeling and testing as per approved drawings and standards.
Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure system reliability.
Troubleshoot faults and provide timely resolution to minimize downtime.
Interpret telecom drawings loop diagrams and technical documentation.
Support pre-commissioning commissioning testing and system handover activities.
Coordinate with telecom engineers vendors and other site disciplines.
Ensure strict compliance with Qatar Oil & Gas HSE standards PTW systems and site regulations.
Maintain accurate documentation including test reports daily activity logs and as-built drawings.
Diploma or ITI in Telecommunications Electronics Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum 35 years of experience as a Telecom Technician in Oil & Gas projects in Qatar or the GCC.
Proven experience with industrial telecom and ELV systems in hazardous areas.
Knowledge of international and client standards (IEC IEEE ITU ATEX QCS where applicable).
Experience in onshore and/or offshore environments is preferred.
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
Sound understanding of telecom safety and installation practices in Oil & Gas facilities.
Proficient in the use of test equipment such as OTDR power meters and network testers.
Good communication and reporting skills.
Valid H2S certification
BOSIET / HUET (for offshore roles)
First Aid and Fire Fighting
Vendor certifications (Cisco Siemens Avaya Huawei added advantage)
Site-based role within Qatar Oil & Gas facilities.
Willingness to work shifts extended hours and remote project locations as required.
