Job Description

Position Title: Contract Specialist – Marine Projects

Industry: Marine / Shipping / Port & Harbor / Offshore
Experience: Minimum 5 Years
Location: QATAR

Job Purpose

The Contract Specialist will be responsible for managing pre-award and post-award contract activities for marine-related projects ensuring compliance with contractual terms commercial risk mitigation and effective coordination with internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Award (Tendering & Contract Formation)

  • Review and analyze tender documents RFQs ITTs and bid submissions related to marine and shipping projects.
  • Prepare and evaluate commercial terms & conditions contract strategies and risk assessments.
  • Support bid teams in contractual clarifications deviations and negotiations.
  • Draft review and finalize contracts subcontracts MOUs and agreements in line with company policies.
  • Coordinate with engineering procurement legal and project teams during bid stage.

Post-Award (Contract Administration & Management)

  • Administer contracts post-award ensuring compliance with contractual obligations milestones and deliverables.
  • Manage variations change orders claims counterclaims extensions of time (EOT) and commercial correspondence.
  • Monitor contractual risks notices and rights to protect company interests.
  • Support dispute resolution processes including negotiations settlements and arbitration support.
  • Maintain proper contract documentation correspondence logs and contractual records.

Marine Industry–Specific Responsibilities

  • Handle contracts related to marine construction dredging shipbuilding ship repair port & harbor works offshore marine services and logistics.
  • Ensure compliance with marine regulations charter party agreements maritime laws and international standards where applicable.
  • Liaise with ship owners marine contractors classification societies and port authorities.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Quantity Surveying Law Business Administration or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in contract management with marine or shipping industry exposure.
  • Proven experience in both pre-award and post-award contract management.
  • Experience working on EPC / EPCM / Marine construction / Offshore projects is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of contract law commercial terms and risk management.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC BIMCO LOGIC or similar contract forms (advantage).
  • Excellent negotiation communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple contracts and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong documentation analytical and reporting skills.

Preferred (Added Advantage)

  • Experience in Middle East marine projects.
  • Knowledge of claims management and dispute resolution.
  • Professional certifications (e.g. CCM MRICS PMP) are a plus.
