ORGANISATION PROFILE: Save the Children International is the worlds leading independent organization for children. In Egypt Save the Children International has been working to ensure that childrens rights are respected protected and promoted since 1982. We carry out both long-term development work and more recently emergency humanitarian work. Project summary: The project will continue to focus on meeting the mental health and psychological needs of the target group in Alexandria and the North Coast (aged 7-17) through services delivered. These services will be integrated into the case management cycle and include interventions such as healing and education through the arts (HEART) sessions and youth resilience and life skills programs. SC will also offer individual counselling services at Level Three (non-specialized support) of the IASC Guidelines Intervention Pyramid. | ||
ROLE PURPOSE: Under the supervision of the Child Protection Officer the psychologist will be responsible for providing individual/group sessions for Unaccompanied Accompanied and Separated children in need of Psychosocial support identified through the project activities and referrals. S/he will also be responsible for organizing group support and awareness sessions to the chilfren and their families at risk and refer those with acute psychological needs to specialized services. | ||

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: A university degree in psychology. 2-3 years of experience in family and/or child individual and group counselling experience in working with migrants and refugees is an asset. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including team-leading and influencing. Extensive experience in delivering trainings. Excellent written and oral communication skills in Arabic and English are required. Comfortable with high levels of ambiguity and able to take decisions independently in a fluid context. Experience with refugee/marginalized communities desired. Commitment to Save the Children values and Child Safeguarding. | ||
