Key Responsibilities
Assist diesel mechanics in diagnosing and correcting vehicle deficiencies by removing repairing adjusting overhauling assembling/disassembling and replacing major assemblies sub-assemblies components and systems (powertrain fuel emission brake steering hydraulics etc.).
Conduct basic machine shop operations as instructed by senior technicians.
Support in adjustments and alignments including bearing loads gear tooth contact valve mechanisms governors control linkages clutches and traction units.
Help determine vehicle condition by conducting routine inspections and identifying worn or damaged parts.
Assist in verifying vehicle performance by participating in test drives and adjusting controls and systems under supervision.
Maintain general workshop cleanliness and proper housekeeping standards.
Ensure tools and lifting equipment are cleaned and stored in designated areas after use.
Minimize oil spillages in the workshop and job sites by following proper handling procedures and using correct tools.
Adhere to all quality health & safety information security and business continuity policies.
Use tools and equipment safely and correctly in accordance with company regulations.
Perform any other ad-hoc tasks assigned by the line manager based on operational needs.
Qualifications
High school diploma or technical certificate in Mechanical Automotive or related field.
Vocational training in mechanical maintenance is an advantage.
1–3 years of experience assisting in vehicle or equipment maintenance preferably in a workshop environment.
Knowledge of basic mechanical tools and repair processes is required.
