Enterprise Architecture Specialist (EA)
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Contributes and facilitate the Implementation of enterprise-wide architecture and processes that ensures that the strategic application of change is embedded in the management of the organization ensuring buy-in of all stakeholders. Facilitate analysis of compliance between business strategies enterprise transformation activities and technology directions setting strategies policies standards practices and KPI activities. Facilitates and participates in the creation and review of a systems capability strategy in order to meet the business strategic requirements.
Safety Health & Environment
- Ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with Company Safety Health and Environment and Quality policies regulations and standards.
Qatarization Program
- Contribute to the development of Qatari employees. This accountability is a condition of employment for expatriate employees.
Firewall Compliance
- Ensure all activities undertaken comply with anti – trust and competition laws and the Company firewall policies and procedures.
Key Job Accountabilities:
- Independently design or refine architectures in specific business infrastructure or functional areas using appropriate tools and methods.
- Effectively communicate complex architectural ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Produces specifications of cloud-based or on-premises components tiers and interfaces for translation into detailed designs using selected services and products.
- Identifies and evaluates alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost performance and scalability
- Demonstrate in-depth understanding of cloud and on-premise systems to create more robust and efficient specification.
- Supports a change program or project through the preparation of technical plans and design principles that comply with enterprise and solution architecture standards (including security).
- Set standards and guide in quality reviews of solution architecture components.
- Conducts formal reviews and evaluations when projects and program end. Documents and socializes the lessons learned from the architecture development.
- Conducts and make useful contributions to technical brainstorming sessions.
- Identifies R&D topics and gain knowledge and understanding of the research field being studied and share it with team

- Provides advice both reactively and pro-actively to those engaged in activities where the technical specialism is applicable both to IT staff and those in related areas such as budgetary and financial planning litigation legislation and health and safety.
- Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree level or holds a relevant professional qualification or relevant experience (typically at least 8 years) in a techno management IT and / or business architecture role with a widespread knowledge of IT.
- May have a postgraduate qualification such as an MSc MBA or other appropriate business engineering scientific or industry qualification.
- Architecture qualification like TOGAF/ Zachman is mandatory.
- Qualification on project management methodologies like PMP from PMI Prince2 from BCS is desirable.
Knowledge and/or Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in communicating with stakeholders at all levels singly and in groups.
- Experience with the systems development lifecycle and typical problems associated with the implementation and operation of information systems and has an appreciation of both functional and non-functional requirements.
- Is aware of the IT infrastructure and software development and maintenance methods tools and techniques.
- Experience with the organization’s IT strategy policies and standards and any industry regulations/constraints.
- Is aware of risk management change management configuration management reliability and safety methods and the use of metrics.
- Experience in setting and applying specific quality standards to all tasks undertaken to ensure that deliverables are accurate and complete.
- Demonstrates high standards of professional behavior in dealings with clients colleagues and staff.
- Has in depth knowledge of more than one specific area and a broad understanding across a wide field along with a record of applying such knowledge successfully in a variety of situations. Possesses strong inter-personal skills especially in handling contacts of all types and at all levels.
Technical and Business Skills:
- Good working experience in Finance and Supply tools like SAP and in Project Management tools like EPM MS Projects etc.
- Communicates well both orally and in writing and has the skill to influence through persuasion in a formal context. Has a good overall knowledge of wide areas of information systems practice and applications.
- Applying standards practices codes and assessment and certification programs relevant to the IT industry and the specific organization or business domain
- Management or professional responsibility and has received training in data and business analysis methods and techniques.
- Demonstrates high standards of professional behavior in dealings with clients colleagues and staff
- Has achieved proficiency in systems Development User Experience or Business analysis OR has gained substantial practical experience in programming creating graphic layouts and designs and using different methods to articulate data and insight.
- Can facilitate the analysis and re-design of business processes and articulate potential changes to business processes clearly both orally and in writing. Can evaluate new ideas and opportunities objectively.
Knowledge Knowledge Depth:
- Applying automated systems to support specific business functions or processes and operational support systems. A DevOps approach may be taken where development and operational staff work together. Examples but not limited to: enterprise resource planning and email services.
Database Software
- Aware of Software which enables the user to capture create populate and manipulate data structures and where appropriate unstructured data. Examples but not limited to: MongoDB and NoSQL.
Infrastructure Architecture
- Proficient The frameworks and principles on which networks systems equipment and resources are based both on premises and cloud based. Examples but not limited to: AzureGCP and VMWare. Conceptual models/standards Examples but not limited to: SOA and ISO standards.
National/International Standards
- Current and emerging standards associated with IT practice nationally and internationally published by authorities such as IEEE IEC BSI ISO. Examples such as but not limited to: IEEE 802 (local area networks and metropolitan area networks) and ISO20000 (service management).
Operational/Service Architecture
- Knowledge of the IT/IS and the IT applications and service processes used within own organization including those associated with sustainability and efficiency (examples but not limited to: virtualization and on demand services).
- The business environment relating to own sphere of work (own organization and/or closely associated organizations such as customers suppliers partners and competitors) in particular those aspects of the business that the specialism is to support (i.e. localized organizational awareness from a technical perspective).
- Aware of The analytical comparison of IT products against specified criteria (including costs) to determine the solution which best meets the business need.
Cloud/ Virtualization
- Aware of The principles and application of cloud/ virtualization (including ownership responsibilities and security implications).
- Use of tools and systems to manage virtualized environments. Examples but not limited to: Server/desktop virtualization and SDDC (Software Defined Data Centre).
- Principles and practice of good sustainable secure maintainable and efficient system design. Examples but not limited to pattern recognition and closed loop strategies. Together with standard industry design approaches. Examples but not limited to: loose-coupling and good interfaces/APIs. Understanding the importance of adhering to design principles during infrastructure development taking into account all relevant non-functional requirements in order to assure smooth running of the service in live operation.
- Aware of Performing a proof of concept or prototyping exercise to demonstrate or evaluate the feasibility and potential benefits of applying a particular technological business change in order to meet a business of Techniques for the systematic design running analysis and reporting of results of experiments to discover a new understanding of some aspect of IT.
