WC Jordan is seeking a total of 20 research assistants that would assist in the collection of qualitative and quantitative data.
Your profile
Objective of the job The Research Assistants will support War Childs research and programmatic activities in Jordan with a primary focus on data collection. They will be responsible for gathering qualitative and quantitative data to inform ongoing projects including but not limited to the Stronger Together Research Project. As part of this role they will conduct fieldwork in areas of East Amman such as Tabarbour and Hashmi Shamali and other locations as needed ensuring high-quality and accurate data to support War Childs evidence-based programming.
Position in the organisation The RAs will work directly under and report to the Senior Research Officer in Jordan.
Result areas (max 5) Training:
Attend a training on qualitative research tools and the particularly the tool that would be used for this assignment. Subsequent phases of the research will have additional training days allocated to them as well.
Performance Objective:At the end of the training recruited candidates must demonstrate their proficiency in the use of the designated research tools as well as their understanding of War Childs relevant policies including the Integrity Framework Data Protection Child Safeguarding and Child Protection. Data Collection:
Collect qualitative data using the tools and guidelines covered during the training.
Enter and check collected data for accuracy and completeness.
Schedule and confirm appointments with participants as needed.
Use Kobo and other designated platforms for data entry and submission.
Share/upload collected raw data with War Childs Senior Research Officer on a rolling basis as it is completed.
Performance Objective:Research Assistants are to share back the recordings and notes at the end of each day they perform data collection in. Implementation of data collection tools is to be done in accordance with the guidelines outlined during the training preceding the data collection.
Reporting:
The RAs are expected to report back to the Line Manager/ Senior Research Officer at the end of each day in which they conduct data collection. Debriefs should include updates on salient findings or themes that were observed during the interview/ FGD.
Additionally RAs are expected to promptly notify the Senior Research Officer of any challenges or incidents that may take place during the data collection.
Performance Objective: RAs to share to debrief and report to Senior Research Officer on a daily basis as outlined above.
Adherence to War Childs Integrity Safeguarding Data collection and protection policies:
The training of RAs will cover an introduction to the policies RAs are meant to adhere to. These include principles of safeguarding protection as well as data management protection policies.
RAs will also be expected to adhere to these policies alongside War Childs code of conduct and integrity framework.
Should any incidents take place during data collection RAs are to follow the guidelines of the adverse incident reporting framework (which they will be trained on prior to the commencement of data collection).
Performance Objective: Adherence to War Childs policies and procedures including those pertaining to safeguarding protection and reporting. As well as the reporting of incidents per the provided guidelines and frameworks.
Required Knowledge Skills and Experience
A university degree from a university recognized in Jordan in a relevant field.
Communication and reporting skills are fundamental.
Qualitative (and quantitative) data collection skills.
Strong preference will be given to applicants who currently reside in East Amman.
Ability to provide cultural considerations on working within a Jordanian local context.
Background and experience in conducting research through the use of qualitative research tools (FGDs KIIs).
Previous experience conducting research in East Amman areas such as Tabarbour or Hashmi Al Shamali is highly preferred.
Experience of delivery of interventions/ conducting research in Hashmi Al Shamali is highly preferred
What we offer
Daily payment 25JDs during the training and 35JDs during data collection transportation to data collection site will be provided. A total of 5% tax will be deducted on each payment.
