Lead the exploration Planning & Portfolio management for Exploration Upstream under Exploration Function acting as single point of accountability for matching Upstream capabilities and demands (product or unrefined petroleum fluids) by leading indirect staff responsible for Reservoir management process exploration of portfolio and nonoperated assets responsible to mature and deliver prospects defining the methods / standards ensuring probabilistic riskanalysis methodology and align staff capabilities with requirements; in order to achieve strategic targets based on demand and needs adding full value of exploration potential and reserves addition to drive production growth for Upstream OQ.
The position will act in accordance with the Groups Mission Vision Values & Strategies as well as policies guidelines and standards supported by an IT Technology platform HSE standards Omanis government & other legal justifications and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.
Main tasks and responsibilities
Portfolio Exploration
- Manage exploration portfolio of both operated and nonoperated assets
- Liaise with team of explorers to mature and deliver exploration prospects to drill ready.
- Review the lessons learned and input updated strategic objectives to enhance prospects evaluation process
- Define the strategy for portfolio management process including the probabilistic prospects resources/reserves geological data and volumetrics to have the inventory of resources validated for further applications.
- Conduct internal risk and ranking including production potential & economic assessment
- Prepare data required on reserves addition and feasibility prospect prioritization.
- Review and highlights any alternations to the prioritized prospects from a geological perspective: Prioritize prospect list
- Review the alterations to economic perspectives and prepare a consolidate data returns / production contribution
- Evaluation of reserves additions from geological / production technical and economic feasibility perspective
- Compose and validate the portfolio inputs to include the reserves achievements
- Ensuring all prospects are assessed consistently before entering the prospect inventory
- Ensuring prospects are ranked to reflect OQ Upstream strategic priorities and industry environment
- Develop systematic data management system and data management plan
- Giving the team an easy and flexible access to all the information required to make the best decisions on where to allocate resources to across the exploration portfolio
- Develop methodologies for optimal portfolio management ensuring probabilistic riskanalysis methodology to guide management in evaluating a portfolio of exploration prospects not just according to their value but also by their inherent risk.
Planning capabilities:
- Evaluate and report staff development planning and skill management.
- Determine the manpower baseline profile (resources and capabilities)
- Forecast and prioritize
- Build the roadmap for gap assessment
- Maintain exploration risk register and audit plan
- Prepare Work program & budget and annual exploration business plan
- Planning and managing of stakeholder engagement meetings
- Prepare with team exploration KPIs and track performance/ reporting
- Conduct Value Assurance of key projects
- Custodian of exploration data management
Qualifications :
- Bachelors Degree in Geoscience/ Petroleum Engineering or related discipline.
- Excellent knowledge of written read and spoken English (required) Arabic Native (desirable)
- 20 years of experience in relevant position
- Wellrounded professional with strong background in Exploration Planning & Portfolio
- Adaptable and motivated general management strategist who relishes challenges.
- Experienced in resource control contract management and general management.
Soft Skills:
- Strong management & leadership skills to lead all aspects of the Exploration & production process & should be able to work collaboratively with all involved.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and multi cultural sensitivity.
Technical:
- Computer literate with expertise in MS Office.
- Monte Carlo simulation software.
- Hands on experience at managerial level in Oil & Gas subsurface field
