Water Resources Engineer

Our client is looking for a water resources engineer with 5 to 10 years of experience to help with various water resources projects. The ideal applicant will have prior expertise in water resource engineering including surface water modeling Colorado water rights groundwater principles and modeling and water quality fieldwork and analysis. Technical ability in Excel and comprehension of the Colorado water rights system is necessary.

This is a fulltime position at the clients offices in Boulder Colorado. We provide a flexible work schedule which includes the option of working remotely one or two days each week. Fulltime inoffice orientation and training as well as project and customer meetings will be anticipated before remote work possibilities are offered. Principal Duties and Responsibilities The successful applicant will work with Client licensed professional engineer staff and assist with any of the following:

Water rights engineering

o Water rights applications o Historical consumptive use analyses

o Alternatives analyses

o Water accounting development o Augmentation plan development

o Support on expert opinion disclosures

o Litigation support

o Water rights opposition work

Water allocation modeling

Development and use of water allocation models using various modeling platforms including RiverWare Excel MODSIM StateMod and otherso Water rights and operational scenario modeling

o Risk and resiliency modeling including future conditions under climate change or differing interstate compact conditions

o Development of model scenarios and analysis of model results

Water supply planning

o Water supply planning and management

o Water demand studies

o Potable and nonpotable water planning

o Permitting support

o Groundwater resources and conjunctive use of surface water and groundwater

o Water treatment options

Qualifications

A BS degree is necessary and an MS degree is desired preferably in civil engineering hydrology hydrogeology water resources or any relevant field.

5 to 10 years of expertise in Colorados water resources and water rights system water management including a thorough understanding of Colorado topography and waterrelated infrastructure

Excellent writing and verbal communication abilities

Strong time management skills

Compensation

The salary for this position will be based on level of experience but is anticipated to be in the $70000 to $115000 range.
