Job Description

ITSM- Release Manager

Release Managers are IT professionals who manage software/hardware releases through managing, planning and scheduling delivery all through the release lifecycle. This encompasses facilitating the process required to move software or hardware releases into production while coordinating with different teams to ensure a smooth delivery of the product with little disruption and first-time quality.

General duties:

.

Focus on the bigger picture and views software/hardware development and release processes in relation to the overall business objectives.

.

Provide the services and tools needed to help product teams manage and deploy software/hardware into production.

.

Be responsible for the implementing and managing the release process from beginning to end into the production environments.

.

Scheduling, managing, and coordinating release across multiple applications within various portfolios across different teams and projects

.

Ensuring all team members are adhering to best practices as well as enforcing policies and procedures of release management.

.

Manage and mitigate risk and resolve issues regarding quality or schedule.

.

Monitor the release process and collect feedback from all involved teams as well as customers for review and improvement.

Skill Sets:

.

Background in Computer Science or a related field with advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle and project management.

.

Possession of interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skill & abilities to resolve cross-functional team issues.

.

Must be able to work under pressure and short time lines when needed.

.

Must be flexible in supporting releases on off hours and holidays.

.

Must be certified or familiar with Agile methodologies, SAFe, DevSecOps, IT4IT and ITIL 4 frameworks with good working knowledge to apply to release management.

Must be adept at conflict resolution on a cross-functional environment.

.

Must have strong project management skills and time management.

.

Must be familiar with Release Management Best Practices.

.

Risk Management and mitigation skills

.

Leadership skills and the ability to work with little or no supervision.

.

Thorough understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines.

.

Ability to communicate effectively to Leadership and cross-functional teams and programs.

.

Familiarity with Change Management practices and procedures.

.

Working knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle.

.

Experience with Application Release tools

.

Good understanding of application, system architecture and operating systems.
