What we are looking for

We are looking for a Commercial Specialist with strong attention to details who is ambitious to grow fast and is passionate about improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. As a Commercial Specialist you are the primary contact person in the regions where we have our operations. On a day to day basis you are involved in farmer engagement activities. This role reports to the Head of Commercial with interactions across the commercial department and with Customers Partners and Vendors/strategic services providers.


What does the job involve

  • Overseeing & approving harvests
  • Reporting & communicating with the Senior Commercial Specialist on ongoing trades
  • Work with logistics & Business development officer in Organising first mile logistics in a manner that is costefficient and reliable
  • Understanding quality requirements and raising alarms in case of issues
  • Identifying and recruiting farmers & farmer groups in nearby villages
  • Scheduling & conducting farmer meetings as required & providing trainings information sessions as needed
  • Identifying reliable market linkage leads within the community
  • Registering farmers monthly on the AOS system
  • Administration and record keeping of farmer engagement on our AOS system
  • Maintaining positive relations with the local county government and government officials
  • Engaging local organizations & activating partnerships that will support & grow the impact of our company.
  • Being an ambassador among farmers farmer groups village leaders local community members ensuring positive associations.
  • Advising the management and leaderships on community needs requirements & necessary changes to products & services provided


Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in cereal value chains/Sourcing
  • Diploma or degree in business administration or AgriBusiness from a recognized University.
  • The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and MS Excel.
    • Expertise in produce sourcing and aggregation.
    • Understanding of the agribusiness value chain.

The incumbent must demonstrate the following skills:

  • Attention to detail and accuracy surrounding completing tasks.
  • Good technical and analytical skills.

The incumbent must have the following personal attributes:

  • Passionate about improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers.
  • Ambitious to grow fast.
  • Innovative/Open to learning.
  • Good attitude leadership skill and interpersonal skill.
