Senior Data Scientist

1. Expertlevel skills using SQL.

2. Expertlevel software engineering skills specifically using Python.

3. Background in cloud compute infrastructure specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Responsible for supporting a major corporate initiative to improve workforce routing within CenterPoint Energys Gas Operations business. This role will write code and lead conversations around the routing and optimization components of the initiative. The core areas of focus will be mathematical optimization software engineering and feature engineering. This role is expected to collaborate with internal Data Scientists business SMEs and communicate results to a nontechnical audience.

Responsibilities for the role:
Write code to support the route optimization components of the application.
Work with product leadership to prioritize and engineer new features.
Work crossfunctionally to investigate and analyze the root cause of bugs.
Attend meetings with product and business stakeholders.
Clearly communicate progress or challenges to product owners throughout each sprint.
Review bug tickets identified by endusers and product owners.
Implement testing best practices before committing code to production environments.
Produce clear documentation that other technical team members can follow.

Additional Required Skills the candidate must have:
Strong ability to work collaboratively within a team to solve complex problems.
Strong version control experience especially working within a collaborative team.
Strong mathematical background specifically in optimization and linear algebra.

Preferred Skills we would like the candidate to have:
Familiarity working and tracking bugs within Azure DevOps.
Experience working on route optimization problems.
Experience working within ArcGIS or similar Geospatial tools.
Experience working within the Utility Industry.
