Senior Estimator

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Estimator to join our team. In this role you will play a crucial part in our projects by accurately estimating materials managing project workflows and fostering relationships with key vendors and clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Attend project prebid meetings to gather project details.

• Perform takeoffs and estimate material requirements for our landscape projects.

• Solicit written quotes for hard materials and site furnishings.

• Propose profit margins based on pricing guidelines.

• Prepare and send out final estimates to clients.*

• Manage landscape construction estimating workflow to ensure complete proposals before bid deadlines.

• Assist inhouse designers with estimating projects.

• Submit RFIs to clients when necessary.

• Continuously expand our network of subcontractors and vendors.

• Estimate labor materials and project timelines.

• Thoroughly review project documentation to understand requirements.

• Build and maintain longterm relationships with key vendors and clients.

• Obtain bids from clients vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials and negotiating pricing.*

• Ensure positive thorough and proactive communication with clients architects and subcontractors.

• Demonstrate a strong work ethic and selfmotivation.

• Read and understand plans and specifications.

• Maintain strong organizational skills.

• Multitask effectively in a fastpaced work environment.

• Familiarity with estimating/takeoff software.

• Handson experience with complex data research activities.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Criticalthinking and problemsolving abilities.

• Strong negotiating skills.

• Project management from the office ensuring subcontractors and vendors understand their scope upon starting the job.

• Purchasing and coordinating material deliveries with our project manager and onsite teams.

Qualifications & Experience:

• A minimum of 6 years of previous working experience as a construction estimator is required.

• Strong handson experience with complex data research activities.

• Proficiency in reading and understanding plans and specifications.

• Excellent organizational skills to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fastpaced work environment.

• Proficiency in MS Word Excel and Outlook; familiarity with QuickBooks is a plus.

• Knowledge of estimating/takeoff software.

• Positive thorough and proactive communication skills are essential as there will be constant interaction with clients architects and subcontractors.

• A high work ethic and selfmotivation to meet project deadlines and maintain a high level of accuracy.

• Criticalthinking and problemsolving abilities to address project challenges and make informed decisions.

• Strong negotiating skills for obtaining competitive pricing from subcontractors and vendors.*

• Experience with project management from the office ensuring subcontractors and vendors understand their scope upon starting the job.*

• Ability to estimate labor materials and project timelines accurately.

• Familiarity with landscape estimating is considered a valuable asset.

• Experience with landscape estimating is a plus.
