The RI Coder at Norman Regional Health System as a component of the Documentation Integrity Department works to provide timely and compliant coding for all patient encounters. They strive to tell the story of the patients experience through the use of accurate and specific code assignment allowing regulatory agencies and payers the ability to accurately determine the services provided.
The Documentation Integrity department is comprised of coding clinical documentation improvement and denials professionals who work together daily to ensure the most optimal and accurate picture is presented for the patients and communities they serve via the diagnosis and procedural coding appropriate patient admission status and denial appeal processing when necessary.
RI Coder essential functions include but are not limited to:Requirement description : By submitting your applicant to this need you are acknowledging that you have checked and have no inclination that your candidate has applied directly to this position. - Bachelors of Science or Associates in Applied Arts/Science or equivalent years of experience. Required
- Has 1 year Professional Coding Facility Coding or has experience in both segments Required See below for breakdown of required experience in each segment *** (Preferred Coder has BOTH Professional Coding and Facility Coding experience but will entertain applicants with one or the other.)
- Candidates applying with Facility coding MUST have Same Day Surgery and Observation experience Required
- Candidates applying with Professional coding MUST have Hospital Medicine or ED experience Required
- Actively seek to obtain certification with American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and/or Registration with American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) or other equivalent coding certification.
- Applicants must have their own equipment with superior Internet speed capabilities.
