New Product Development Manager - Gas Combustion Appliances

Primary Function: As the New Product Development (NPD) Manager you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of new product development leveraging resources from Residential Engineering personnel designers tool makers and manufacturing teams to achieve project objectives. Collaborating with crossfunctional support teams you will play a key role in planning organizing implementing and completing product lifecycle activities.

Responsibilities:

• Execute assignments from the Director of Residential Engineering related to product development activities.
• Collaborate with the Director to develop and implement growth plans for resource needs and testing facilities.
• Provide regular status updates and communicate obstacles to the Director.
• Plan and implement engineering programs using the Project Management System to achieve project objectives.
• Supervise and manage the engineering team to meet goals for product maintenance and agency issues.
• Provide leadership and direction to project team members assigning responsibilities and offering technical support.
• Assess and evaluate proposed design changes specifications and drawing releases making recommendations.
• Manage resources to support the NPD Process and meet project objectives.
• Conduct competitive product analyses to define project scope.
• Coach and mentor the Product Development Group providing supervisory guidance and supporting employee developmental needs.
• Coordinate with crossfunctional stakeholders communicate project activity and progress and participate in customer focus groups and training seminars.
• Interact with other Engineering Staff to provide design input throughout the development process.
• Prepare project expense estimates and control expenditures within budget limitations.
• Supervise both long and shortterm product engineering projects codes/standards and general technical support to manufacturing.
• Review and report on all projects on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Travel as needed for field installations meetings trade shows etc.
• Assist Quality Assurance with technical evaluations from field returns/problems.
• Assign and monitor change requests using the companys PLM system.
• Participate in administering company policies and developing longrange goals and objectives.

RoleSpecific Responsibilities:

• Supervise assigned engineering team members ensuring performance in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
• Interview potential staff candidates for hiring purposes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in engineering.
• 67 years of supervisory/leadership experience.
• 7 years of related work experience in product development specifically gas combustion appliances.
• Computer proficiency including MS Office.
• Strong mathematical and problemsolving abilities.
• Ability to define problems collect and analyze data and draw valid conclusions.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Strong communication skills both orally and written to communicate with all levels including senior management.
• Ability to read analyze and interpret common scientific and technical articles.
