Job Title:
MYP Head
Job Purpose:
The MYP Head is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the implementation and management of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) in the IB School. The MYP Head will work closely with the MYP Coordinator and other key stakeholders to ensure that the programme is implemented effectively, and that it supports the school's mission, vision, and goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Provide strategic leadership and direction for the MYP programme in the school, working closely with the Principal and other key stakeholders.
Collaborate with MYP Coordinator and provide guidance and support to ensure that the programme is implemented effectively.
Collaborate with other Heads of Departments and teachers to ensure that the MYP curriculum is integrated into the wider school curriculum.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines for the MYP programme.
Curriculum Development:
- Oversee the development and implementation of the MYP curriculum, ensuring that it is aligned with the IB's standards and practices.
- Work with the MYP Coordinator to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the MYP curriculum and make recommendations for improvement.
- Support teachers in the development of MYP units of inquiry and assessments.
Teacher Professional Development:
- Work with the MYP Coordinator to identify professional development needs for MYP teachers and develop and deliver relevant training and workshops.
- Support the MYP Coordinator in conducting regular teacher observations and providing feedback and coaching.
Student Support and Assessment:
- Ensure that systems and processes are in place for the effective assessment of MYP students.
- Work with the MYP Coordinator and other key stakeholders to provide academic and pastoral support to MYP students.
Communication and Stakeholder Management:
- Communicate regularly with parents, students, and other stakeholders about the MYP programme.
- Work with the MYP Coordinator to establish and maintain relationships with other IB schools and educational organizations.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or related field, and a teaching certification
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in an IB school, with a focus on the MYP programme
- Experience in leadership and management, with a track record of successful team management
- Strong understanding of the IB's standards and practices, and experience in curriculum development and assessment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
