Job Title: PreSales Specialist
Job Summary: A PreSales Specialist often referred to as a Sales Engineer or Solutions
Consultant plays a critical role in the sales process by providing technical expertise and support
to the sales team. This position involves engaging with prospective customers understanding
their needs and presenting technical solutions that align with the companys products and
services.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Expertise:
Develop a deep understanding of the companys products services and
solutions.
Stay updated on industry trends competitor offerings and emerging
technologies.
2. Customer Engagement:
Collaborate with the sales team to engage with potential customers during the
presales phase.
Conduct meetings presentations and discussions with customers to understand
their technical requirements.
3. Needs Assessment:
Gather and analyze customer requirements to identify challenges and
opportunities.
Work closely with customers to define their technical needs and objectives.
4. Solution Design:
Design and propose technical solutions that address customer needs and align
with the companys offerings.
Create detailed product demonstrations presentations and proofofconcept
solutions.
5. Product Demonstrations:
Conduct product demonstrations to showcase the features and benefits of the
companys products.
Tailor demonstrations to align with the specific needs and interests of potential
customers.
6. Technical Support:
Provide technical support during sales meetings answering questions and
addressing concerns.
Collaborate with the customer to ensure a clear understanding of the proposed
solutions.
7. Proposal Development:
Assist in the creation of detailed proposals and statements of work (SOWs) that
outline the technical aspects of the solution.
Work with the sales team to develop pricing and licensing models.
8. Collaboration:
Liaise between the sales team and product development or engineering teams to
ensure alignment on customer requirements.
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to resolve technical issues and
challenges.
9. Competitive Analysis:
Provide insights into competitive offerings and differentiators to help the sales
team position the companys solutions effectively.
10. Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions technical specifications and
solution design documents.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g. engineering computer science or business).
Proven experience in a presales or technical sales role.
Strong technical acumen and the ability to understand complex products and solutions.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Customerfocused mindset with the ability to build rapport and trust.
Problemsolving skills and the ability to think critically.
Adaptability and the capacity to learn quickly.
Proficiency in relevant software tools and technologies.
Ability to work collaboratively within a sales team and crossfunctional groups.
A PreSales Specialist is a technical expert who plays a pivotal role in helping potential
customers understand how the companys solutions can meet their specific needs. They serve
as a bridge between technology and sales contributing to the success of the sales process by
providing valuable technical insights and expertise.
