Sanitation Lead

SUMMARY:
Leads, coordinates, and provides strong leadership to the sanitation team to achieve full plant compliance with all personnel safety, food safety, sanitation/cleaning requirements pertaining to all federal and state requirements and company food safety manufacturing standards.

Tasks

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
• Leads and coordinates work assignments of sanitation crew to ensure cleaning and sanitation equipment, utensils, and facility, including but not limited to proper use of chemicals at proper dosing, the operation and wash down of processing equipment, the use of a tray washer, the use of foamers, manual cleaning of equipment and utensils, sweeping/washing floors, washing walls and overhead pipes, etc.
• Understands the manufacturing process and equipment/parts design to ensure proper sanitation equipment efficient startups.
• Demonstrates effective time management in planning work schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
• Ensures proper practices are being used and implemented by sanitation staff and leads by example.
• Ensures removal of all fruit and debris from machines, equipment, and all areas.
• Evaluates and oversees tasks at a continual and regular speed within scheduled sanitation timeframe, to determine areas of improvement and efficiency.
• Performs frequent on-the-job inspections and reports deficiencies and updates to department manager.
• Routinely inspects equipment for proper cleaning and preps for audits.
• Provides support and training to team members to continuously improve results.
• Maintains sanitation master schedule, records daily logs, Food Safety related forms, inventory checks, and conducts various quality control sampling.
• Reports, investigates, and follows up on safety risks and works toward proactively sustaining a safe work environment.
• Interprets company policies to staff and enforces safety regulations conferring with department supervisor.
• Performs work appraisals of employees conferring with department supervisor.
• Suggests, implements, and supports initiatives to motivate staff and improve engagement.
• Leads the sanitation team in safe working practices including chemical handling, LOTO, PPE and OSHA requirements.
• Conducts operations in a manner which promotes work safety and complies with Cal/OSHA standards, to include wearing all PPE.
• Works assigned shift to include 10-12 hours per day, and up to 6 days per week depending on business needs.
• Supports the implementation and monitoring of food safety, food quality standards, and regulations and laws.
• Keeps work environment clean, positive, and free of harassment.
• Demonstrates reliable/consistent attendance and punctuality and a positive attitude.
• Carries out leadership capabilities to manage sanitation team in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
