Position Field Service Engineer Networks

Duty Station Nairobi

Reporting to PROJECT HEAD IT SERVICES

Role Purpose

Execution of on-site company IT installation projects that cut across technology include both infrastructure and software deployments to ensure optimal infrastructure and software that enable the company to achieve its business goals and meet customer expectations. He/she will implement installation plans and schedules.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

To install, repair and upgrade all network set-up and deliver technical and onsite support

Working with customers to assess their needs, develop solutions to meet those needs, and implement new equipment or processes

Troubleshooting equipment problems by testing components as well as reviewing service records to identify the cause of the problem

Performing preventative maintenance on installed equipment

Installing new equipment, including wiring new machinery or equipment, connecting computer components, and calibrating Hardware and Software System

Diagnosing problems with Hardware and Software System to repair them or determine why they cannot be repaired

Inspecting equipment to ensure that it is operating safely and efficiently according to industry standards

Recording data about equipment problems and resolutions for future reference

Recommending solutions to customers regarding complex problems that cannot be solved by standard repair methods

Draft and submit reports

Any other duties as assigned by the line manager.

Requirements

Education, Experience & Professional Knowledge

Bachelor s degree in IT, Telecommunications, or another related field.

Professional Certification; CCNA, HCA, CCNP, or Equivalent certifications

3yrs experience in Information Technology Projects

Required Skills & Competencies:

In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of networking systems such as LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, router installation, and ISP broadband, firewalls, routers and printers

Comprehensive understanding of network services and networks such as TCP/IP, OSPF and EIGRP

Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot Wi-Fi and security infrastructure

Familiar with the technical aspects of IT hardware and Software System and technology used in different field projects.

Experience in installation, testing & commissioning of CCTV, Access Controls, Electrical Sensors and IOT devices

An excellent problem-solver and be able to manage crises when they arise.

Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from design to implementation

Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to co-workers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology
