Data Protection Admin JD for reference- Primary: EMC Networker & Secondary: EMC Avamar & Data domain Must-Have 1. 10+ years of experience in Networker and other backup tools like Avamar 2. Installation, Configuration and Administration of Networker. 3. Strong troubleshooting skills for any backup and restore failures/issues and proactive problem solving 4. Data protection and backup recovery solutions familiarity such as using virtual tape, disk to disk to tape, Data Domain replication, intellisnap Backup, Data Recovery, Storage Node management 5. Very good knowledge in restore and DR activities 6. Knowledge in end to end backup/restore process and reporting/automation 7. Problem Solving 8.Good Knowledge about RMAN/SQL/VMware/NAS backup configuration and Administration 9. Cloud library configurations Good-to-Have 1. Good hands-on experience on other related technologies e.g. SAN, NAS, Tape Backup etc. 2. Knowledge on CommVault, Netbackup, Cloud Boost, Cloud Endure, Site Recovery Manager 3. Experience of Vmware, OS (Windows, Linux, Solaris) 4. Configuring and Maintaining NDMP backups for various NAS technologies 5. Good communication and analytical skills Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role 1. Provide data protection & disaster recovery management at the platform level, utilizing technology standards defined by customer including (but not limited to) NetWorker, Data Domain Virtual Edition (DDVE), Site Recovery Manager (SRM), CloudEndure, AWS Backups using Cloud Boost and N2Ws. 2. Advance troubeshooting for Incidents which are not resolved by L2 team 3 Coordinate with data protection suppliers (e.g. Dell, EMC, N2WS) to escalate and manage issues 4. Build Networker backup server from scratch ensuring that all ddboost device, backup pools, policies are configured per company standards. 5. Manage Data Domain devices (physical and virtual) and other backup targets (e.g. Infiguard) 6. Configure and manage NAS backups using Avamar backup server and Avamar NDMP Accelerator 7. Manage Avamar backup servers, be able to support the backup servers standalone and also integrated with Data Domain, configure Avamar backup policies. 8. Configure and manage image backups using Avamar backup server and Avamar proxy servers which is integrated with vCenters 9. Configure, manage and support all aspects of private and public cloud backups,including configuration, monitoring, issue resolution, and backup/restore requestsSupport, monitor and report on daily Avamar maintenance activities (checkpoint validation, garbage collection) 10. Support all Avamar image recovery options. 11. Support Bare Metal Restore (BMR) using Networker and Avamar 12. Manage capacity to ensure that no long-term retention data is on the infrastructure. 13. Monitor and Reporting and alerting on all Backup infrastructure 14. Support DBAs to ensure successful Oracle and SQL backups. 15. Support backup clients and qualify/upgrade existing agents as neccesary 16. Identify root causes and implement solutions related to backup failures and issues at the platform level. 17. Collaborate with customer Data Protection Team (i.e. DPA) to investigate and remediate backup failures that cannot be solved at the platform level. 18. Participate in DR exercises as required.
