Stable and growing property management company seeking a Controller to perform a wide variety of accounting, analytical, and reporting functions. Must have real estate/property management industry experience that can hit the ground running! Excellent compensation package, benefits/company perks, hybrid schedule located in National City.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepares, maintains, and analyzes all financial statements, accounting records, allocation schedules, account reconciliations, and additional management reports
  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements and communicates a system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Oversees month-end closing, the production of regular and periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company s performance.
  • Participates in the annual budget and forecasts; monitors and reports significant budget differences to management.
  • Provides ad hoc and scheduled reporting and financial analysis to internal departments.
  • Works closely with external auditors and provides needed information for various financial audits.
  • Files quarterly and annual reports within required or regulatory deadlines.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Responsible for the operations of the Accounting Department

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Property Management/real estate industry experience required
  • Minimum 5 years of general Accounting experience required and working knowledge of GAAP
  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics preferred
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, Yardi preferred
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have intermediate knowledge of MS Office and advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Knowledge of finance tools for affordable housing development, particularly Low Income Housing Tax Credits, gap financing, HOME, and others preferred
