You'll find Ion Beam Applications (IBA) on the frontlines in the battle against cancer. IBA designs cyclotrons and produces and distributes radiopharmaceutical markers used by hospitals the world over to detect cancers, and heart and neurological diseases. It's a world leader in proton therapy, used to selectively destroy cancer cells. IBA also provides hospitals with dosimetry products to monitor patient doses and assure the quality of X-ray diagnosis. It produces sterilization and ionization products used to sterilize pre-packaged disposable medical products, cosmetics, and even US mail. IBA was formed in 1986 as a spin-off of the Cyclotron Research Center at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve.
