حول Florida Memorial University
Florida Memorial University (formerly Florida Memorial College) offers some 40 undergraduate and graduate programs to some 2,200 students in Miami-Dade County. A historically black college and Baptist institution, the school introduced its graduate studies in 2004 with programs in elementary education, special education, and reading. The school is known as the birthplace of the Negro National Anthem "Lift Every Voice and Sing." In 1900 the song was composed by brothers James Weldon Johnson and J. Rosamond Johnson, a former professor at the college. The school traces its roots to the 1879 founding of Florida Baptist Institute, which later merged with Florida Baptist Academy to form Florida Memorial University.
