Position Overview:Performs as staff nurse/RN in medicaloncology office and infusion area.Essential Functions:a) Assesses patient for vital signs, height/weight, allergies,medications, chemotherapy side effects, changes in condition, and otherpatient complaints.b) Assists physician with procedures.c) Performs peripheral venipuncture and accesses intravenousvascular access devices/ports.d) Triages patient problems, resolves problems, or makes appropriatereferrals.e) Instructs patients and families on chemotherapy side effects andmanagement strategies.f) Assists patient with coordination of multiple appointments and tounderstand complex instructions.g) Does continuous patient education and reinforcement ofinformation.h)
Documents care accurately to maintaineffective communication and billing. Physical Demands and Working Conditions:Physical Demands: Abilityto lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting or transferring of patients mayinvolve lifting of up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assist with weights ofmore than one-hundred (100) pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods.Fine motor skills. Visual acuity.Qualifications & Skills:a) Education: High school graduate or GED, graduation fromaccredited school of nursing.b) Training & Experience: Current Colorado RN license; previous experience in inpatient medical nursing, oncology nursing, medical office nursing, chemotherapy administration, and venipuncture. Preference for OCN and ONS Chemotherapy Administration Certification. Must be BCLScertified.c) Job Knowledge: medical surgical acute care nursing, chemotherapyadministration and side effects, office nursing processes and procedures,blood draws
