Job Purpose
The Financial Controller will oversee all financial accounting and statutory compliance activities for operations. As a key partner to the leadership team you will ensure robust internal controls lead efficient month-end closures optimize working capital and safeguard company assets. The ideal candidate will seamlessly blend rigorous accounting discipline with the agility required to navigate a dynamic high-volume consumer goods market.
Key Responsibilities 1. Financial Reporting & Close Management
Oversee the end-to-end month-end and year-end financial close processes ensuring strict adherence to deadlines.
Prepare and present accurate financial statements in accordance with Accounting Standards and corporate reporting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
Deliver comprehensive variance analysis (Actual vs. Budget) to highlight commercial performance supply chain costs and margin fluctuations.
2. Treasury FX & Working Capital Management
Monitor daily cash flow optimize working capital cycles (inventory accounts receivable and accounts payable) and forecast future liquidity needs.
Manage local banking relationships and actively navigate local foreign exchange (FX) complexities remittance processes and import financing documentation.
3. Tax Legal & Statutory Compliance
Ensure full compliance with all tax regulations including VAT corporate income tax (IRT/Industrial Tax) customs duties and withholding taxes.
Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external auditors tax authorities and regulatory bodies driving a smooth clean annual audit process.
4. Internal Controls & Cost Governance
Maintain evaluate and enforce a rigorous framework of internal controls to protect inventory mitigate fraud and minimize operational risk across warehouses and distribution networks.
Partner with Plant/Operations Managers to analyze manufacturing variances bill of materials (BOM) and distribution/logistics costs.
5. Team Leadership & ERP Optimization
Lead mentor and upskill the local finance and accounting team promoting a culture of accuracy accountability and continuous improvement.
Drive the optimization of the companys ERP system (e.g. SAP Oracle or NetSuite) to automate routine accounting tasks and improve data integrity.
Required Experience & Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related discipline.
Certification: Professional qualification such as CPA ACCA CIMA is highly desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of 8 10 years of progressive finance experience with at least 3 years in a financial controller or senior accounting management role.
Must-Have: Direct experience in the FMCG manufacturing or retail distribution sectors (handling high-volume inventory cost of goods sold and complex supply chains).
Systems: Advanced proficiency in Excel and extensive experience with tier-1 ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Key Competencies & Soft Skills
Resilience & Problem Solving: Ability to adapt quickly to changing local regulatory landscapes import restrictions and economic shifts.
Strategic Communication: Capacity to translate dense financial data into actionable operational insights for non-finance commercial and sales teams.
