HSE Superintendent

Purpose: The HSE Superintendent is responsible for creating analysing managing and continuously improving on an integrated management system for Health safety and environment that meets the companys and customers regulations and requirements Responsibility: Analyse regular updating and improve health safety and environmental systems Create and implement procedures standards and specifications for internal use Specify raw material requirements with suppliers and ensure compliance to these standards Ensure manufacturing processes comply with standards of HSE at both national and international levels Work with Managers and Staff to ensure procedures standards and requirements are continuously implemented analysed and improved Implement training as required Be responsible for all aspects of HSE including but not limited to: product audits supplier audits internal audits process audits responsible for system audits customer audit completion reviews monitoring measurement training non-conformances meetings change management statistics KPIs risk assessment (FMEA and Control Plan) business continuity process diagrams etc. Determine strategic direction and work priorities in conjunction with line management for continuous improvement of plant and support sites safety and environmental initiatives Implement programs and initiatives aligned with relevant ISO standards to lower risks and improve quality Complete prevention inspections and ensure relevant records are up to date Investigate environmental incidents and ensure documentation is up to date Provide support and expertise to line management in incident investigating and reporting. Ensure non-conformances and incidents are closed out timeously and preventative measures implemented. Conduct risk assessments and act as final authority where a specialist response is required. Ensure all HSE checklists are completed and updated for all departments. Ensure all HSE appointments are completed and appointees trained. Chair Management Reviews and Safety Committee meetings. Regular reporting to management on HSE statistics.

BSc/B-tech degree or Advanced Certificate in Safety Management. Certificate in SAMTRAC or COMSOC 1 & 2. At least 5 years experience in safety roles within the metallurgical industry.

Extensive experience in metallurgical environment (Rotary kiln Reduction Furnaces / and Refining furnaces) Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety standards and requirements Strong understanding of MHS Act OHS Act and Environmental Legislation including risk management systems and investigation techniques. Excellent communication leadership auditing and computer literacy. Ability to design and implement an integrated HSEQ Management System IATF training (Core tools APQP MSA SPC FMEA and Control Plans Auditing etc) Computer literate with intermediate MS office skills To work independently and take instruction Good communication and inter-personal skills Teamwork ability supportive of leaders and cooperative with others Professional work ethics and integrity Ability to work to tight deadlines whilst producing the best output Proactive and positive outlook
