Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Project Engineer to join our dynamic team in Iraq. This role is reserved for Iraqi nationals with a minimum of 15 years of proven experience in the oil and gas sector. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the planning execution and delivery of complex oil and gas projects ensuring they are completed safely on time within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Coordination:
- Collaborate with project managers and multidisciplinary teams to develop detailed project plans schedules and resource allocations.
- Coordinate engineering activities across all project phases from conceptual design through to commissioning and handover.
- Interface with client representatives contractors and vendors to ensure alignment with project objectives and requirements.
- Engineering Design & Review:
- Lead and review engineering design packages ensuring compliance with international standards and client specifications.
- Oversee the preparation of technical documentation drawings and specifications for mechanical electrical civil and process systems.
- Provide technical input during design reviews HAZOP studies and constructability assessments.
- Construction & Execution Support:
- Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to engineering designs safety standards and project timelines.
- Resolve technical issues on-site coordinating with construction and commissioning teams to implement effective solutions.
- Conduct site inspections and quality checks ensuring all work meets project and regulatory standards.
- Cost Control & Reporting:
- Support project cost estimation budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Track project progress prepare regular status reports and identify any deviations from the project plan.
- Assist in managing change orders risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
- HSE Compliance:
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all engineering activities comply with company HSE policies and local regulations.
- Participate in risk assessments incident investigations and safety audits as required.
- Stakeholder Management:
- Build and maintain effective communication with all project stakeholders including clients subcontractors regulatory authorities and internal teams.
- Represent the company in meetings presentations and negotiations as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Nationality: Iraqi national (required)
- Experience: Minimum 15 years of professional experience in the oil and gas industry with a strong track record of delivering major projects in Iraq or the Middle East.
- Education: Bachelor s degree in Engineering (Mechanical Civil Electrical Chemical or related discipline) from a recognized university. Advanced degrees or professional certifications (e.g. PMP PE) are an advantage.
- Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding of oil and gas project lifecycle engineering standards and best practices.
- Proficient in engineering software (AutoCAD Primavera MS Project etc.) and project management tools.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods materials and quality control.
- Language: Fluent in Arabic and proficient in English (written and spoken).
- Other Requirements:
- Valid Iraqi work permits and ability to travel to project sites across Iraq.
- Strong leadership problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety quality and continuous improvement.
