Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Junior Seismologist with 10 years of experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting site-specific hazard studies including Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment (PSHA) and Site Response Analysis (SRA). This role will enhance our technical expertise and support business growth and domestic sustainability efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Assessment (PSHA): Conduct PSHA to evaluate the likelihood of seismic events and their potential impacts on specific sites. Develop seismic hazard models and generate seismic hazard maps.
- Site Response Analysis (SRA): Perform SRA to assess how seismic waves interact with local soil and rock conditions. Analyze site-specific ground motion parameters and develop design response spectra.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze seismic data using advanced software tools. Monitor seismic activity and conduct field studies to gather geological samples and site assessments.
- Reporting and Presentation: Write comprehensive reports and present findings.
- Client Meetings: Participate in client meetings to discuss the commercial development of scopes and provide technical expertise on seismic hazard assessments.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support for PSHA and SRA projects ensuring accurate and reliable results.
Qualifications:
- Education: A Masters degree or Ph.D. in seismology geophysics or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience as a seismologist with at least 10 years of experience in seismic data collection and analysis methods.
- Technical Skills: Experience with seismic monitoring and prediction software. Ability to develop computer models and simulations to predict seismic activity.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prepare and present scientific reports and papers.
- Teamwork: Strong ability to work collaboratively with other scientists and departments.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in both field and office environments. Willingness to travel and conduct fieldwork as required.
