Summary
Abbot Public Library is dedicated to fostering literacy education and creativity from birth through the teenage years. Reporting to the Teen Librarian the Youth Services Library Assistant provides front-line customer service and administrative support in both the Childrens and Teen Rooms.
Key Responsibilities
Staff youth services desks and assist patrons of all ages in locating physical and digital materials.
Utilize the librarys automated circulation system to process patron transactions accurately (check-ins check-outs holds).
Assist librarians with the planning preparation and execution of programs and outreach opportunities for children and teens.
- Provide high-quality welcoming service across both the Childrens and Teen Rooms as scheduled.
Required Background & Qualifications
- High School diploma (or equivalent) with two years of similar library experience; OR any equivalent combination of education training and experience that provides the requisite knowledge skills and abilities for this job.
- Previous experience working directly with children teens and families.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient and welcoming demeanor.
- Solid computer literacy (experience with library ILS software/Evergreen is a plus).
- Ability to bend reach sit and stand for extended periods as required to maintain the department and assist patrons.
