JOB SUMMARY:
The Youth Development Specialist ensures that clients aged 14 24 receive a coordinated range of client-centered services to ensure completion of education and job training programs through the Learn to Earn Program. The Youth Development Specialist should possess empathy and a deep understanding of the needs of vulnerable youth populations while actively working to dismantle barriers such as poverty and limited access to opportunities stemming from inequality and economics insecurity.
WORK SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
- This is a full-time 35 hour per week position.
- Monday-Friday.
- Some evening hours may be required.
- Due to the nature of this job this individual must be flexible with their schedule.
- Will be required to travel between youth centers throughout Rhode Island.
- May be required to work at any CCAP location.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate or bachelors degree preferred
- 2 years experience in related field and/or relevant life experiences.
- Must have demonstrated case management skills and experience knowledge of youth development
- Strong passion for working with at-risk and minority youth
- Ability to motivate and encourage others even in challenging situations
- Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft and Google platforms
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Valid drivers license and proof of vehicle liability insurance
- Provide/maintain all required immunizations and/or vaccinations
- Complete all required background checks
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide case management to youth/young adults ages 14 24 enrolled in employment andeducation programs.
- Conduct comprehensive intake and assessments on clients.
- Monitors cases by verifying clients attendance; observing and evaluating service strategyand responses; advocating for needed services; obtaining additional resources; interveningin crises; providing personal support.
- Develop and guide youth through a service/plan in accordance with provisions stated bygrant.
- Track and record case information complete forms and produce monthly attendance andcase note reports.
- Answer inquiries from potential program partners and incoming youth.
- Develop ways to retain youth (ages 14-24) through motivation and encouragement.
- Outreach and network with other youth serving programs and High Schools.
- Provide client support services such as advocacy mentorship or resources to youth/youngadults ages 14-24 enrolled in employment and education programs.
- Participate in program development and workshop facilitation that will encourage andmotivate youth to engage in our program.
- Conduct detailed evaluations on clients to develop a service plan that will guide youththrough our program.
- Track and record case information for each client such as producing monthly attendance orwriting case note reports and meeting with client monthly to re-evaluate their service plan.
- Opportunities to travel outside of the office and into the communities we serve to connectand network with other youth serving programs like the Rhode Island Training School (RITS)and various High Schools across Rhode Island.
- Ability and opportunity to travel and work with staff and our diverse populations of youth at all4 Learn to Earn locations.
- Willingness to create and/or implement various workshops for youth including Life SkillsCollege and Career Readiness Digital Literacy Healthy Relationships Financial Literacyand others as youth needs dictate.
