Summary Kittitas Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and creative individual to join our team as a Yearbook Advisor. This role is essential in guiding students through the process of designing writing and producing the school yearbook fostering teamwork creativity and organizational skills. The Yearbook Advisor will work closely with students to ensure that the yearbook reflects the unique spirit and achievements of our school community.
Responsibilities - Oversee the yearbook production process from start to finish including planning design content creation and final publication. - Collaborate with students to develop a theme and layout that represents the school year and its events. - Guide students in writing articles taking photographs and collecting information to accurately document the school year. - Organize and lead regular meetings after school with the yearbook staff to monitor progress provide feedback and encourage collaboration. - Manage the yearbook budget including fundraising efforts and expenses related to printing and supplies. - Ensure that all deadlines are met and that the final product is delivered on time. - Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student participation and creativity. - Communicate with parents faculty and the school community regarding yearbook sales deadlines and opportunities for involvement. - Stay updated on trends in yearbook design and technology to enhance the overall quality of the publication.
Requirements - Previous experience in yearbook production journalism or a similar role is highly desirable. - Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Proficiency with computers and design tools (e.g. Adobe InDesign Canva etc.). - Ability to work collaboratively with students faculty and the community. - A passion for storytelling and an eye for detail in both writing and photography. - Flexibility to work outside of regular school hours for meetings events and yearbook-related activities. - Commitment to fostering an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives and experiences.
- An OSPI successful background check through the FBI and WSP within the past two years.
