Yard Supervisor

The Interco Yard Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation and organization of a busy industrial yard ensuring materials equipment trailers and vehicles are moved staged loaded and unloaded safely and efficiently. This role manages material flow maintains organized staging areas and coordinates yard activities to minimize congestion delays and unnecessary movement.

The Yard Supervisor directs and coordinates yard employees and equipment operators assigning work based on daily priorities and workload. The position oversees the safe and efficient use of forklifts loaders trucks trailers and other mobile equipment while monitoring yard conditions equipment needs and material locations.

The Yard Supervisor maintains a safe clean and organized work environment by enforcing safety procedures equipment operating standards traffic controls and housekeeping expectations. The role works closely with management and other departments to resolve operational issues prevent bottlenecks improve workflow and maintain efficient material movement throughout the yard.

Interco provides comprehensive training on the equipment processes and procedures specific to the operation. The company is seeking an experienced supervisor who can lead and develop people organize the work solve problems learn the operation and take ownership of the yard.

Qualifications :

Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for daily operation and organization of the assigned yard.
• Manage material flow staging loading unloading and movement throughout the yard.
• Assign and coordinate employees and equipment to meet daily operational and throughput objectives.
• Direct the safe and efficient use of forklifts excavators loaders trucks trailers and other yard equipment.
• Maintain organized material locations staging areas equipment areas and clear traffic and pedestrian paths.
• Monitor yard conditions and equipment for safety hazards damage maintenance needs and operational issues.
• Guide train communicate expectations and evaluate yard employees and equipment operators.
• Maintain a clean safe and organized outdoor work environment and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
• Coordinate daily yard activities with management and other departments to prevent bottlenecks and maintain material flow.
• Identify and recommend improvements to yard layout equipment utilization workflow safety and productivity.
• Constant management of trailer/container movement and loading priorities.

• Math skills include addition subtraction multiplication division and percentages. 
• Ability to recognize and solve problems. 
• Basic computer skills. 
• Proficiency with MS Outlook Word and Excel a plus. 
• Ability to read understand and speak Spanish is a plus. 

Qualifications 

• High School diploma or GED. 
• Minimum 3 years experience in a scrap metal recycling manufacturing and/or warehousing environment. 
• Minimum 2 years experience working in a supervisory lead or similar position. 
• Experience in non-ferrous scrap metal industry related to grading and alloy identification is a plus. 
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts is a plus. 
• Ability to talk and hear 
• Visual abilities include close vision distance vision color vision and the ability to adjust focus. 
• Ability to frequently stand walk reach use hands and fingers. 
• Ability to occasionally sit kneel stoop and climb. 
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.

• $60000-$70000 Salary Annually

The Interco recyclingfacilities are separated into three departments: nonferrous metals computers and electronics and battery processing. The nonferrous facility is located on the 40-acre main campus in Madison (IL) while the computers and electronics are processed in Edwardsville where the Administrative and some logistics offices are located. The commercial department is located on The Hill in St. Louis.
