Job Description
Works with Yard Foreman in carrying out workflow to maintain and organize storage at yard and shop. The role of the Yard Attendant is to assist in all aspects of the yard/warehouse and maintain cleanliness and organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Superior organizational skills to organize and maintain yard/tools/materials.
- Ability to effectively identify the best approach to accomplish specified work.
- Self-motivated person that can work independently to accomplish tasks.
- Good viable communication between peers operations manager shop manager and yard foreman.
- Load/unload customers and vendors within a timely manner.
- Assist with equipment and vehicle check in/out procedures to personnel and projects.
- Ability to operate forklifts aerial lifts trucks and other company equipment (willing to train)
- Ensure project needs requests are timely built and accurate.
- Unload and process materials and equipment deliveries in a timely manner. Distribute notifications to yard foreman when materials and equipment arrive or are ready to be sent to a project.
- Establish daily priorities and set levels of expectations.
- Maintain company safety standards and enforce safety regulations.
- Inspect and maintain small tools- be proactive about keeping tools in a work ready condition.
- Performs damage assessment on tools and equipment returned to yard and may assist shop manager with repair of damaged equipment if needed.
- Cleaning and servicing of small air tools small electric tools and bulk rental items
- Performs general yard maintenance- i.e. weeding clearing light building maintenance etc.
- Driving company vehicles to construction sites as needed and picking up parts from vendors.
- Cleaning warehouse and yard by sweeping shop floors taking out trash rearranging equipment or using a pressure washer to clean the yard.
- Using a pressure washer to clean equipment and vehicles
- Follow all company Operational Procedures and QC Standards
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the operations manager shop manager and yard foreman.
- CDL delivery and driving work may also be available depending on project needs and when critical yard tasks are complete.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- High School Diploma
- Background in construction/ Concrete is helpful
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be able to pass background and drug test
- Valid drivers license & clean driving record required
- Previous experience with small tool repair and maintenance is preferred.
- Willing and able to work in inclement weather and get dirty when needed
- Commercial drivers license (CDL) preferred
- Must be able to perform the physical duties of the job (lifting of 50 pounds frequently)
- Must be able to communicate in English (verbal and written)
- Overall positive attitude
- Care of tools and equipment
- Record keeping & Paperwork
- Motivating and helping others to succeed or grow in a team environment
- Ability to travel would be a plus
- Entry level Microsoft office skills i.e. excel word outlook
- Familiarity with common types of building materials and tools in other words a basic understanding of what things are called and their intended use.
