Location: This position is based on-site in our Columbia South Carolina office. We are open to candidates relocating to the area and may provide relocation assistance for the right candidate.

Note: Candidates must be licensed and in good standing with the South Carolina Bar and have direct South Carolina workers compensation defense experience. A book of business is not required. Ideal candidates will have 1 years of relevant experience.

Job Description

• Defend workers compensation claims on behalf of employers insurers third-party administrators risk managers and self-insured entities.
• Manage cases through all phases of litigation from initial evaluation through resolution.
• Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings motions briefs and other legal documents.
• Handle discovery depositions mediations hearings trials appeals and settlement negotiations.
• Communicate regularly with clients and provide strategic legal guidance.
• Identify related legal issues and opportunities that may impact client matters.
• Effectively manage a caseload while maintaining high-quality work product and client service.
• Collaborate with attorneys and staff in a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Active South Carolina Bar license in good standing.
• 1 years of South Carolina workers compensation defense experience.
• Strong litigation research writing and advocacy skills.
• Experience handling discovery depositions and case management.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and client communication skills.
• Comfortable using legal technology and case management systems.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
