Job Summary

Description

We are looking for a Station Manager in DNV North American West Coastto head the daily operation of the unit which will include our Long Beach Seattle and Vancouver offices.

This position can be based in either the Long Beach or Vancouver office.

The stations main activities are Classification of Fleet in Service and ISM/ISPS/MLC audits. The station also covers CMC and VMC and Conversions and Newbuildings. You will be responsible for the day to day activities of the unit both managerial as well as operational and report to North America Area West Manager.

What Youll Do:

HSES

  • Execute leadership and HSE management according to the DNV HSE Policy Resilience Framework and relevant Instructions
  • Plan co-ordinate support follow-up and improve the HSE activities of the unit and promote reporting of hazards near misses and incidents
  • Perform annual HSE evaluation in own unit or as part of the Section/Station the unit belongs to in cooperation with the area coordinators
  • Challenge facilitate support and follow up the safety health and environmental attitudes and behavior of direct reports
  • Ensure that all direct reports have the required HSE training and personal protective equipment needed for their role
  • Promote employees to take advantage of company health plans and schedule annual health checks
  • Continuously promote cyber security matters and relevant training requirements to ensure DNVs and our customer assets are protected

Production

  • Distribute as applicable work among surveyors fairly and equally making sure that customers needs for timely job execution are met.
  • Ensure after hours and weekend duty assignments to be available and planned as needed
  • Maintain adequate and appropriate manning levels which includes but is not limited to giving due consideration to vacations holidays weekends duty training MTAS qualifications etc.
  • Ensure that equipment tools and facilities are provided as appropriate
  • Follow up the work of each employee including formal and informal monitoring verification tutoring and training.
  • Comply with reporting standards quality and timelines as per relevant sections of DMS
  • Plan co-ordinate support follow-up the quality improvement work within the unit
  • Ensure that the required competence and capacity is available to conduct the unit operations with the required quality and that (where applicable) mandatory competence schemes are adhered to
  • Ensure verification of quality of the work performed according to relevant standards and together with central verification teams for CMC and FiS as applicable
  • Carry out on-the-job/local verification either by self or appointed personnel.
  • Ensure timely and correct reporting and invoicing
  • Handle complaints/non-conformities both external and internal. Report and follow-up in Synergi Life tool as required
  • Facilitate local implementation of the quality system including relevant parts of DMS

Human Resources

  • Execute leadership and HR management according to the DNV DMSG-8-0 People Policy and relevant instructions
  • Plan coordinate support follow-up and improve the HR activities such as recruitment performance management etc. of the unit
  • Challenge facilitate support and follow up on the performance and development of direct reports
  • Execute the MIP process for all direct reports
  • Promote employee engagement and teambuilding
  • Visit site offices to interact face to face with local staff and customers if applicable.
  • Encourage/share the Peakon Pulse survey process and results in the unit
  • Execute salary review and promotion process in the unit
  • Ensure that the DNV Code of Conduct is understood and adhered to by all direct reports

Commercial and Legal

  • Plan co-ordinate support follow-up and improve the financial performance of the unit to ensure long term sustainable operations
  • Ensure accurate budgeting accounting and financial reporting as required by line manager
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements as defined by DNV and local legislation
  • Follow up accounts and projects identify deviations and implement corrective actions
  • Identify and report price level developments (possibilities threats and competitors)
  • Take responsibility for timely and correct invoicing
  • Manage WIP/AR for the unit and relevant customers as applicable

Market and Customers

  • Plan co-ordinate support follow-up and improve the marketing and sales activities of the unit as required
  • Participate in relevant external events and forums as required by line management
  • Carry out effective and efficient KAM TSM and After Sales Service either by self or appointed personnel for identified clients within the units geographical area
  • Assess the local market to identify business opportunities communicate this within the organization and help execute marketing actions as requested
  • Promote DNV in own geographical area; distribute a positive image of DNV and our products and services
  • Actively use tools provided for follow up of new and existing projects and opportunities and communicate within the organization
  • Support BD to maintain client lists with contact information in SalesForce and related production tools.

The actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set level of experience and specific location. For the states of California Connecticut Illinois Maine Massachusetts New Jersey New York Virginia and Washington only the starting pay range for this role is $175000-$200000USD.



Qualifications

What is Required:

  • At least 5 years of relevant business-related experience and proven track record
  • Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Proven knowledge of maritime industry market and customers
  • Highly self-motivated and result oriented with a Strong commercial attitude and strategic mind-set
  • Highly professional and credible presence during interaction with customers and within DNV across all management levels
  • Ability to expertly present oneself at conferences and strongly represent the DNV brand
  • Well organized & proactive able to successfully work in a fast paced and competitive environment
  • Capable of driving change and embracing new ideas and ways of working
  • Excellent networking skills
  • Experience in building strong customer relationships and networks
