As a Wellness Center Personal Trainer youll have the opportunity to motivate educate and inspire members of all fitness levels while developing individualized exercise programs that improve health mobility and overall well-being. Whether working one-on-one or leading group classes youll make a meaningful impact on the health of our community every day.
- Conduct fitness assessments and develop individualized exercise programs based on each participants goals abilities and health status
- Provide one-on-one personal training sessions focused on safe effective exercise techniques
- Modify exercise programs based on participant progress medical conditions and changing fitness goals
- Educate participants on exercise principles injury prevention nutrition basics and healthy lifestyle habits
- Monitor participant progress and document outcomes to support continued success
- Ensure all exercise instruction follows current industry standards and safety guidelines
- Plan and lead group fitness classes for participants of varying fitness levels
- Promote participation in wellness programs special events and community fitness initiatives
- Collaborate with Rehabilitation Services and Wellness Center staff to support participant health goals
- Assist with developing new fitness programs and wellness offerings that meet community needs
- Encourage a welcoming inclusive and motivating fitness environment
- Welcome members and provide exceptional customer service throughout every interaction
- Assist with member registration scheduling check-ins and facility orientation
- Respond promptly to member questions requests and concerns
- Promote personal training services and Wellness Center programs through outreach and education
- Collaborate with KANA Communications to advertise classes and improve participation in fitness programs
- Maintain a clean organized and safe fitness environment
- Inspect equipment for safety and report maintenance needs promptly
- Assist with opening and closing procedures and daily Wellness Center operations
- Follow all infection prevention cleaning and safety protocols
- Maintain certifications through continuing education and professional development
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience in personal training fitness instruction health promotion recreation or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current Certified Personal Trainer certification (ISSA NASM NSCA ACE or equivalent) or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
- Ability to safely demonstrate and instruct proper exercise techniques
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding activities throughout the workday
- Degree in Exercise Physiology Exercise Science Athletic Training Kinesiology or a related field
- Corrective Exercise Specialist Group Fitness Instructor or additional specialty fitness certifications
- Experience working with diverse populations older adults or individuals managing chronic health conditions
- Experience using fitness management or member scheduling software

Were looking for a fitness professional who leads with enthusiasm integrity compassion and a genuine desire to help others achieve healthier lives.
This is a full-time onsite position in Kodiak Alaska.
Standard work schedule:
- 37.5-hour work week
- MondayFriday
- 7.5 paid hours per day plus a one-hour unpaid lunch
Some evening or weekend hours may be required to support member schedules fitness classes and community wellness events.
