Job Summary
The School of Social Work ( SSW ) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for a position as the Western North Carolina Well-Being Coach for the Public Service Leadership Program ( PSLP ) funded by The Workforce is Here: How to Support Thriving Communities and Healthy North Carolina Children Individuals Families and Elders via Social Work Interventions and Research grant program. This initiative plans to develop a statewide three-tiered public service certificate for pre-service students at the high school community college/undergraduate and masters levels as well as for in-service practitioners in public sector social work settings. The purpose of these certifications is to spark interest in pursuing public sector career opportunities and for those already engaged in the social work workforce to add a credential to enable career advancement and acquisition and competency of advanced skills. Certificates encompass core elements including a tuition-free credential curriculum development virtual delivery and co-instruction by university faculty agency professionals and individuals with lived experience all aimed at sparking interest in public sector careers and supporting career advancement in North Carolinas critical service delivery areas. The Well-Being Coach will serve as a core member of the PSLP Support Network reporting to the Workforce Resilience Program Manager and will work to recruit and support PSLP participants and partnering agencies across five critical service domains: Child and Family Services; Mental and Behavioral Health; Health Aging and Caregiving; Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities; and Services to Justice-Involved Individuals. The Well-Being Coach will provide individualized and group-based coaching and resilience support including in-person and virtual sessions workshops and trainings focused on individual and workforce resilience compassion satisfaction and sustainable professional practice. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the development and review of well-being and resilience curriculum training materials and asynchronous online course content. The Well-Being Coach will also support the statewide Workforce Resilience study through participant outreach and data collection contribute to the PSLP Workforce Resilience Digital Toolkit engage state agency and nonprofit partners in workforce well-being initiatives and track participant engagement and program outcomes for quarterly reporting. This is a TIME - LIMITED position for one year and the extension is contingent upon additional funding. This position will be located in Western NC at Mars Hill University and will provide support to all of the Western NC social work education programs including Appalachian State University Mars Hill University Warren Wilson College and Western Carolina University. The candidate selected must reside within a commutable distance (30-45 minutes) of at least one of these campuses. The position will require up to 25% travel to in-state human services organizations and partnering NC Social Work Coalition universities and the chosen candidate may also be required to travel to Chapel Hill NC for in-person meetings statewide conferences and other convenings.
Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
* Degree in social work education counseling psychology public health or other human services related field. * Experience in a well-being coaching clinical or direct practice role within social work or human services. * Demonstrated knowledge of professional well-being resilience and compassion satisfaction concepts. * Ability to manage workload both independently and collaboratively without immediate or direct supervision. * Ability to think critically and use conflict resolution skills to solve complex logistical problems involving diverse populations (e.g. schools community-based nonprofits university). * Approachable calm style encourages open communication across essential partners. * Proficiency with virtual delivery platforms (e.g. Zoom Microsoft Teams BigBlueButton Mentimeter). * Strong interpersonal communication and facilitation skills. * Working knowledge of NC social work education programs and areas of practice. * Require up to 25% travel to in-state human services organizations and partnering NC Social Work Coalition universities and the chosen candidate may also be required to travel to Chapel Hill NC for in-person meetings statewide conferences and other convenings.
Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
* Masters degree in social work ( MSW ) education counseling psychology public health or a related field. * Experience working with human services practitioners in one or more of the five critical NC service domains. * Experience working with students pursuing degrees in helping professions. * Familiarity with implementation science frameworks and evidence-based well-being interventions. * Experience with program data collection participant tracking and evaluation reporting.
