THE POSITIONThe Solano County Health and Social Services Department is seeking an experienced and motivated leader to join the Special Investigations Bureau as a Welfare Fraud Investigator (Supervisor).
Under general direction the Welfare Fraud Investigator (Supervisor) plans organizes supervises and participates in the work of investigators responsible for conducting criminal and administrative investigations involving suspected public assistance fraud theft forgery and related offenses.
In this role you will lead investigative staff while also conducting complex investigations involving eligibility fraud employee threats theft damage to public property and other assigned investigations. You will review investigative findings prepare cases for criminal prosecution or administrative action testify in judicial and administrative proceedings and serve as an important member of the departments management team.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced investigator who enjoys leading others solving complex cases and helping protect public resources through professional ethical law enforcement.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSEducation:Associates Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice Criminology Law Enforcement Police Science or a closely related field; or a California Intermediate Post Certificate can substitute for education requirements.(must submit copy of degree or unofficial/official transcripts by the final filing deadline)
AND
Experience:Three (3) years of full-time paid law enforcement experience working primarily in criminal investigations in a government agency one (1) year of which must have been as a Welfare Fraud Investigator or equivalent in a government agency.

LICENSING CERTIFICATION AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
- Possession of a valid and current P.O.S.T Specialized Investigator Basic Course (SIBC) valid and current California Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Basic Intermediate or Advanced Peace Officer Certificate OR Possession of a Basic Course Waiver (BCW) is required. (must submit copy of POST or BCW by the final filing deadline)

VETERANS PREFERENCE POINTS
To be eligible applicant must have served at least 181 consecutive days of active duty in the Armed Forces of the United States and have received either an honorable discharge or a general discharge under honorable conditions. A COPY OF THE DD 214 SHOWING DISCHARGE TYPE (GENERALLY COPY 4) MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT BY THE FINAL FILING DATE. Applicants who have a service-connected disability must also submit a recent award letter from the VA stating they are receiving disability benefits for service-connected reasons.
Veteran applicants for initial County employment with an honorable or general under conditions discharge shall receive five (5) points added to their combined score.
