Reporting Relationships
Reports to:Direction is received from the Dean of Career & Technical Education
Supervision Exercised:Supervision may be exercised over student employees.

Job Summary:
Teach assigned classes and laboratory sections and perform activities related to classroom instruction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.

1. Teach Welding courses including lecture and lab components as appropriate.
2. Maintain office hours convenient for students.
3. Participate in college and department training including continuous improvement through mentoring and evaluation activities.
4. Attend required meetings (faculty division in-service training etc.).
5. Assist in course and student outcome assessments implementation of curriculum and activities related to Welding. Provide continuous improvement for program curriculum through completion of program review processes.
6. Assist in developing and maintaining educational pathways for high school as well as adult and continuing education students.
7. Participate in division college advisory committees and community activities.
8. Instruct students in the proper use of lab equipment where appropriate.
9. See that equipment and/or labs are properly maintained where appropriate.
10. Maintain supply and equipment inventory where appropriate.
11. Make minor repairs on machines or other lab equipment when practical and appropriate.
12. Work closely with the welding professional associations; Interface with the American Welding Society.
13. Maintain safety procedures at all times.
14. Collaborate with Dean Marketing and Communications and Student Services staff on student recruitment retention and completion.
15. Assist in work-based placement (e.g. internships apprenticeships post-graduation opportunities).
16. Collaborate with Dean and regional employers to develop and incorporate feedback from an Advisory Committee to ensure that the programs address equity and access as well as relevancy and innovation.
17. Assist Dean with recruitment screening recommending training and evaluating adjunct faculty and other programmatic needs for CTE courses.

18. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A Bachelors degree in Welding and / or a combination of education training and tested experience in one or more of the following Certifications from (AWS) American Welding Society American Petroleum Institute military or equivalent; and 1-3 years related experience required.
2. Proficiency in GMAW (MIG) GTAW (TIG) SMAW (Stick) Oxy-fuel Welding & cutting processes in all positions; welding mild steel aluminum stainless steel metals is preferred.
3. Prior teaching experience preferred.
4. Experience in office and computer word-processing technology required.
5. Experience in dealing with third party regulatory agencies is preferred.
6. Demonstrated experience in supervising/training others is preferred.
7. Demonstrated effective oral and written communications skills and ability to use independent judgement and function autonomously is required.
8. Effective interaction with people from diverse backgrounds is required.
9. Commitment to the mission of the community college and interest in involvement in department division and College initiatives.

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works in an office classroom and instructional lab setting.
