The Application Engineer is responsible for providing application support product recommendations troubleshooting and other technical support to product managers R&D Quality ITW sales team Sales Channel and End-Users. The application Engineer will be a Hobart product expert and work on welding-related projects to increase the pull through of ITW Welding Products.

• Serve as an Application Expert regarding stick electrodes tubular aluminum andsolid wire products and processes.
• Perform and create key product data to support customer needs.
• Provide end-user solutions to optimize value both via phone and at customer sites.
• Perform and create reports on product evaluations and customer projects.
• Effectively conduct training sessions (theoretical and practical) in welding techniquesand processes for internal and external customers.
• Field calls from the Applications Engineering Hotline.
• Competitive analysis of other welding products.
• Conduct weld trials and procedure testing in a weld lab environment utilizing ITW Welding solutions.
• Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time. Limited international travel if anyrequired.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree is required; preference for Welding Engineering Welding Technology or Material Science with a materials joining emphasis. Two or more years of industry work experience preferred.
• Strong application knowledge in welding processes and manufacturing technologies.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to work withcustomers to understand issues and propose effective solutions.
• Candidate must be able to analyze data sets problems and situations and makeimpactful data-driven decisions.
• Candidate must have strong communication and presentation skills including computer skills such as Word Documents and Excel spreadsheets.
• It will be necessary for this candidate to possess time management skills strong initiative and be a self-starter/team player. Capable of working with minimalsupervision and driving objectives to completion.
• Experience with programming robotic arc welding systems preferred.
