Position SummaryThie Welderperformsvarious typesof weld preparationweldingand weld finishing operations in the maintenance of machinery such as pumps air conditioning units positionconsistsmainly ofworking mobile from a company -shop work is ResponsibilitiesResponsible for performing needed welding jobs on equipment and and performs routine preventive maintenance and repair to existing machinerybuildingsand fromtime-to-timedesign fabricate and install welded items like staircasesplatformsand rampsWill be called out for emergency repairs of water wastewaterpipelinesand equipmentFabricatesmiscellaneous items from raw material to improve or better NTMWD Equipment and record of work using District provided software logging their timematerialsand equipment with other departments to ensure work is done efficientlyand safe work practices through proper use of safety equipment and procedures including permit required confined space entry and lock out tag alongsideMechanical Staff to complete assigned jobsPerforms mechanical duties asrequiredor in arotational ONCALLshiftstatus to respond to NTMWD repairs outside of normal business hours must be able to work overtime when neededMaintains a clean work area andparticipatesin organization of toolsequipmentand shop/ be asked toassistother departments during emergency repairs or routine on all safety training and up to date with variedwelding other duties as RequirementsEducation & Experience:Mustpossessa high school diploma or -year experience in various forms of welding including but not limited to; fabricationpipelineand structural be able to obtain a Certified Welder certification through the American Welding Society or an accredited sourcewithin 12 a valid Texas Drivers Skills and Abilities:Working knowledge ofWelding practices includingSMAW (Stick)GMAW (MiG)GTAW (Tig) along with using a cutting torch safely and be able to work safely around cranes and understand limits field of view and safe understand and have ability tooperateall welding equipment including welders plasma cutterstorchesand metal cutting have thebasic knowledge and understanding of how to use a computerMust become proficient in the use of the District Computerized Maintenance Management SystemKnowledge of wire and filler materials applications for various steel alloys aluminum and some exotic be comfortable working at heights in confined spaces and in all have the ability to read operations and maintenance manuals schematicsblueprintsand safety data beself motivatedand able to work under pressure in afast pacedsafety focused and Physical Working ConditionsDriving a District vehicle for business will be required. Employees required to drive as part of their job duties are responsible for maintaining a current valid and vehicle - appropriate driver s license of their resident position requires continuous physical exertion often of a strenuous nature. Lifts or pulls/pushes 50 poundson a daily basisand up to 100 pounds on a weekly basisin order torepair and service pumps motors and machinery while using various hand tools and equipment. Working conditions include exposure to weather odor noise chemical hazardsgasesand and power tools including drill press and lathe welding equipment emergency lighting equipment safetyequipmentand crane.
