Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling a Postoperative Care Unit an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas and a Sterile Processing Department.
Description:
- Assessment of patients needs.
- Development of patient care plan/s
- Provision of direct care.
- Management of patient care delivery.
- Demonstrate leadership skills.
- Support for quality care.
- Customer relations and healing environment.
- On call requirement weekends/holidays picked by rotation.
- Operating Room Nurses provide care and support to patients before during and after surgery.
- Clinical decision-making incorporates all four phases of the nursing process critical thinking and creativity.
- Must possess ability to supervise and delegate appropriate work to Patient Care Techs Licensed Practical Nurses Unit Secretaries and Students.
Requirements:
- Current RN licensure and work permit in Kentucky.
- Bachelors or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
- Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelors degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
- ACLS/PALS/NRP and successful completion of dysrhythmia class as required by department of assignment.
