JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Position Summary
The Center for Spiritual and Ethical Development (CSED)seeksa dependable service-oriented individual to serve as the Weekend Building Attendant for the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center and theEisenhower Chapel. Working Saturday and Sundaymornings and afternoons this position serves as the primary CSED representative in the building ensuring a welcoming safe and well-maintained environment for students faculty staff families alumni religious affiliates and community guests.
The Weekend Building Attendant playsan important rolein supporting the religious spiritual and ethical life of the Penn State community by providing exceptional hospitalityassistingbuilding users supporting scheduled eventsmonitoringfacilities and responding appropriately to building needs.
Essential Responsibilities
Welcome andassiststudents faculty staff families alumni religious affiliates and visitors while providing exceptional customer service and hospitality.
Serve as the primary point of contact during weekend operating hours by responding professionally to in-person telephone and email inquiries.
Open and prepare the Pasquerilla Spiritual Center and Eisenhower Chapel for daily operations ensuring meeting roomscommon areas and public spaces are clean organized and ready for scheduled activities.
Monitor building activity throughout each shift to promote a safe welcoming and respectful environment for all building users.
Provide support for religious services meetings educational programs weddings memorial services and other scheduled events as needed.
Assistbuilding users with room access furniture arrangements and general facility questions.
Conduct regular walkthroughs of the facility toidentifymaintenance custodial safety or security concerns and communicate issues promptly to theappropriate staff.
Document facility concerns unusual incidents and weekend activityin accordance withCSED procedures.
Maintainaccurateattendance and facility usage records for weekend meetings programs and approved building users.
Assistwith securing the facility at the conclusion of each shift by completing established opening and closing procedures.
Promote an atmosphere of respect hospitality inclusion and professionalism consistent with the mission of the Center for Spiritual and Ethical Development.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Centers mission and daily operations.
Position Details
10-month part-time wage position following the academic year (August through May).
Regular scheduleofSaturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m.3:00 p.m.
Compensation ranges from$20.00 to $22.00 per hourcommensuratewith relevant experiencedemonstratedskills and qualifications.
Training will be provided in customer service building operations safety procedures event support and basic audiovisual technology.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent customer service interpersonal and communication skills.
Dependable professional and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to exercise sound judgment while responding appropriately to building needs and customer concerns.
Ability to lift andmove light furniture and event equipmentand perform routine building walkthroughs.
Ability tomaintainconfidentiality and represent the University in a professional manner.
Demonstrated commitment to supporting the religious spiritual and ethical life of the Penn State community by fostering an environment where individuals from diverse traditions are welcomed respected and able to practice their beliefs with dignity.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in customer service hospitality facilities event management higher education houses of worship conference centers or community organizations.
Experience opening and closing facilities or overseeing public spaces.
Demonstrated appreciation for the diverse religious spiritual and ethical traditions represented within the Penn State community.
