Job Summary

Work Setting: In-person (All in office/field)

Hazen is seeking summer fall or year-round interns for a variety of water-related assignments in our Buffalo office. The successful candidate will be involved in a wide range of drinking water wastewater stormwater and/or conveyance projects. This opportunity includes working within one (or more) of Hazens discipline groups which include: CAD/BIM civil electrical HVAC/plumbing/fire protection instrumentation and controls

process mechanical structural or architectural. Responsibilities include integrating with design teams from initial studies and conceptual design through construction of pipelines pump stations and/or treatment facilities and attending field investigations and site visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in fieldwork site visits (mostly in-state) and potential client meetings; capable of walking around outdoors in cold/inclement environments.
  • Assist in preparing engineering deliverables including sampling studies condition assessments process modeling hydraulics and design reports.
  • Work directly with experienced engineering team providing mentoring opportunities to learn and develop.
  • Manage data for process modeling and design.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers and vendors to select equipment.
  • Support multiple projects from planning through construction.
Required Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Bachelors/Masters degree in environmental civil chemical or mechanical engineering).
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and in group settings.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Skilled in AutoCAD Bluebeam Civil 3D GIS
  • Strong interest in the water/wastewater industry
  • Prior experience in the water/wastewater industry
  • Advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) in environmental civil chemical or mechanical engineering.
