Water Quality Technician II

Position Overview:
This role is responsible for supporting the execution of H2O Americaswater quality program through hands-on fieldwork and data analysis in any ofthe following areas sampling backflow prevention flushing and regulatorycompliance. This role independently conducts sampling programs maintainsaccurate records and collaborates with teams to address water quality role assists with environmental and regulatory report development as wellas customer communications. Strong communication technical proficiency andanalytical skills are key to ensure compliance and deliver critical services tocustomers.
Based on regional differences and the business needs ofthe company responsibilities and percentage of time served performingdifferent tasks may be different from employee to employee. The generalresponsibilities are listed below and the day-to-day focus is based on thediscretion of the Lead and Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:
Analyzes water quality data to identify deficiencies and develop recommendations and resolutions accordingly.
Executes routine and special sampling programs and manages lab results (e.g. PFAS DBP Lead and Copper LT2 and cryptosporidium). Schedules sampling with Operations team to ensure state public health department compliance.
Conducts routine and emergency backflow prevention testing to ensure compliance with local and state water safety regulations; maintains accurate records of inspections and certifications.
Perform systematic water main flushing operations to maintain water quality standards remove sediment buildup and ensure proper chlorine residuals throughout the distribution system.
Collaborates with other teams (e.g. Engineering Operations Distribution) to resolve or mitigate water quality issues.
Supports broader environmental quality efforts by implementing and providing recommendations for protection plans.
Tracks rulemaking at all levels of government and executes relevant response plans.
Ensures water quality permit requirements are met.
Researches and drafts technical reports on topics such as public health concerns contaminants of emerging concern environmental health and changes in treatment technologies.
Develops communications materials including Annual Consumer Confidence reports and other customer-facing materials.
Works directly with customers and other stakeholders to address water quality issues.
Mentors and trains less experienced staff members.
Successfully responds independently to routine and most non-routine emergency situations. Must be able to work off-shift hours and weekend to perform maintenance and resolve urgent water quality issues.
Adheres to learning following and ensuring compliance with all company safety rules. This includes rules and regulations in the Company Safety Manual OSHA regulations and other state federal or governing bodys rules and regulations.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED and/or 2 years of relevant professional experience.
B.S. in a relevant field is preferred
Valid Drivers License with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
Holds valid Class D Groundwater or Distribution Water Operator License A Class C license is preferred
Holds valid Customer Service Inspector (CSI) License preferred.
BackflowPrevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) License preferred.
Holds relevant certifications required for the teams need or directed by management.
Experience working in a science engineering laboratory or other technical environment preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in a functional area of Water Quality (e.g. Data Analysis Flushing Sampling Backflow).
Demonstrated experience in system operations and maintenance.
High proficiency in computer skills.
Proven mechanical abilities.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Customer service experience preferred.
