Job Summary
Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Wastewater Project Engineer for ourSacramento California office. As part of our design and process teams you will be involved with a wide range of wastewater infrastructure projects. This will encompass all phases of design including conceptual/feasibility evaluations project management preparation of design reports permitting development of construction drawings and specifications and support of construction services.

Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development of technical treatment strategies selection of treatment processes developing process design criteria and delivering projects
- Support coordination and collaboration with clients
- Coordination with internal technical specialists in all practice areas and discipline design professionals for project delivery.
- Support planning design permitting and construction of wastewater-related projects.
- Manage project tasks scope and schedules for smaller projects or specific components of larger projects to meet client requirements
- Prepare comprehensive construction documents including drawings and specifications for wastewater treatment projects
- Perform detailed design calculations for typical liquid and solids treatment processes
- Lead technical writing for technical memorandum master plans basis of design reports and preliminary design reports
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to effectively meet the clients needs
- Candidate shall also be able to support preparation of proposals and presentations
- Provide engineering services during construction including responding to RFIs (Request for Information) reviewing submittals and conducting site visits to observe progress
- Fieldwork and site visits from planning through construction may be required with occasional travel
- Mentor junior staff and perform quality control reviews of their technical work
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in civil/environmental engineering
- PE license (California preferred)
- 5-12 years of experience in the field of wastewater-related infrastructure including project engineering/management (planning design and construction)
- Experience in successfully delivering and supporting projects spanning multiple years in collaborative multi-disciplinary teams
- Proficient in all MS Office based computer software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and capable of interacting effectively with staff clients and regulatory agencies
- Proven proficiency in technical writing and documentation
- Self-starter with attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Must be capable of presenting complex issues to nontechnical people
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) in Civil/Environmental Engineering
- Hands-on experience with design modeling software (e.g. Revit or AutoCAD)
