Looking for a stable job with reliable weekday hoursThis entry level position islocatedat theRichmond SSLCwarehouse but Supply Services also serves patients/residents at 22 other facilities around the State so there are opportunities for growth and movement to other parts of Texas if desired.
The Warehouse Specialist I is a key position for Supply Services with essential functions offering opportunities to gain experienceassuringthe patients/residents we serve aresupplied withtheir needed supplies for daily living.The Warehouse Specialist Ireportsto the Warehouse Supervisor Supply Services. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The WarehouseSpecialist Iperformslogistical inventory and warehouse work. Work involves electronically controlling inventory and delivering goods to state facilities. Tasks include inspecting incoming goods receiving processing and storing incoming stock pulling orders from inventory delivering goods conducting inventory counting andmaintaininga safe and secure environment. Position requiresuseof multiple computer software systems handheld devices for inventory control and warehouse lifting equipment (forklift pallet jackscartsdrivetruck with lift gate). Must activelyparticipateand/or serve in a Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.
Work Schedule: Monday Friday 8am - 5pm
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
Attends work on a regular and predictable schedulein accordance withagency and departmental leave policy andperformsother duties as assigned.
Reviews system generated picking tickets for logical bin picking order and planned delivery dates to assigned units using material handling equipment.Verifies items to be picked toaffixedlabels on warehouse bins. Picksverifiesand makes notations on the pick ticket. Loads carts with picked items for safe maneuvering. Stages loaded carts inoutgoingwarehouse location. (30%)
Loads andunloadswarehouse stock using lifting equipment (forklifts pallet jacks dollies). Puts away warehouse stock into assigned racking and shelving. Delivers stock and non-stock items to ordering departments using a state vehicle (box truck van pickup UTV)in a timely manner. (20%)
Unloads vendor freight trucks verifying shipments with purchase orders and other shipping documents.Useslifting equipment dockplatesand dock levelers to safely move items from trucks to the warehouse.Inspectscountsand checks items for compliance or damage making notations on documentsin accordance withthe Supply Services SharePoint Procedures System Receiving policies and Operating Instructions. Entersdata into the MIMS automated inventory control computer program for inventory tracking purposes.Assistwith conducting inventories reconcilingvariancesandmaintaininginventory of warehouse stock supplies. (15%)
Entersdata into the CAPPS Financial system to provideaccurateandtimelyreceiving ofwarehouse stock and nonstock items. (10%)
Participates in COOP plan and other duties as assigned. (5%)
KnowledgeSkillsand Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of general warehouse operations to include shipping receiving issuing customerserviceand inventory control.
Ability in the use of mechanical lifting devices used in warehouse operations to movetransferand deliver goods.
Ability to review warehouse rules regulations and policies for compliance and to follow departmental policy instructions for inventory control guidelines.
Ability to use a handheld device for the purpose of managing warehouse stock and receiving goods.
Skill inuse of operatinga computer using inventory control and receiving software.
Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Registrations Licensure Requirements or Certifications:
Valid Class CDriversLicense (TexasDriversLicense preferred) to be checked yearly for any violations or suspensions.
Forklift Driver Training -SAF0100completionwithin three (3) months of employment.
Initial Screening Criteria:
1.Graduationfrom an accredited high school or GED.
2.Workexperience in the use of a computerusing inventory control and receiving softwareor similar systems.
3.Workexperience in a warehouse/inventory control related fieldpreferred.
experience in the use of forkliftandother material handling equipmentor similar experiencepreferred.
