Vice President Operations Anesthesia Services

Full Time 80 Hours Per Pay Period Day Shift

In close collaboration with the clinical and executive teams the Vice President of Operations Anesthesia Services will be responsible for the strategic direction and overall performance of anesthesia services across Covenant Health facilities. You will develop and execute innovative strategies to enhance the quality of anesthesia care and service delivery.

Position Summary:

The Vice President Operations Anesthesia Services will establish the highest standards of business management and professional organization for anesthesia services at Covenant Health facilities. The shareholders employees patients surgeons hospitals and third-party payers shall have a totally professional experience when interacting with this leader. Reports to the Executive Vice President of Operations.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzes and maximizes the efficiency of personnel utilization according to the professional philosophy of Covenant Health.
  • Develops and facilitates long range planning to maintain and maximize our market presence professional image and corporate security.
  • Collaborates with hospital leadership to improve operating efficiency.
  • Minimizes the overall cost of business operations especially the costs of billing and collection accounting payroll retirement plan insurance and credentialing.
  • Manages (with designated physicians and counsel) contracts and negotiations with hospitals. Acts as liaison with hospitals and third parties.
  • Promotes and facilitates excellent communication and relationships within group and with patients physicians hospital administration and community at large.
  • Monitors evaluates and oversees practice management and/or billing company lawyers accountants retirement plan advisors and insurance products.
  • Collaborates with Talent and Acquisition on the recruitment of personnel.
  • Develops and maintains job descriptions.
  • Develops and maintains employee handbook.
  • Develops implements and enforces personnel policies.
  • Develops and maintains employee performance evaluation mechanism.
  • Maintains personnel records (contracts performance evaluations disciplinary files.)
  • Manages (along with Negotiating Committee and Counsel) contract negotiations with physicians and nurse anesthetists.
  • Manages all non-clinical relations with employees.
  • Manages personnel scheduling.
  • Promotes excellent relationships among all personnel.
  • Assesses nurse anesthetist and anesthesiologist utilization and workload.
  • Prepares annual divisions and other division budgets for Operating Committee/Board approval.
  • Monitors budget and reviews profit and loss.
  • Oversees billing collection and processing and payment of locums.
  • Monitors monthly financial reports.
  • Manages and/or monitors payroll retirement plan contributions and tax preparation.
  • Collaborates with the Covenant Health managed care department to negotiate third-party payer contracts.
  • Responsible for carrying out the plans and policies of the Operating Committee.
  • Attends all Board and non-clinical committee meetings as requested.
  • Monitors and maintains progress of projects and reports their status to the Board and Covenants executive Leadership Team.
  • Follows policies procedures and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Bachelors degree in business or related field; masters degree preferred

Minimum Experience:

Ten (10) years management related experience with BS degree or five (5) years management related experience with MS degree
