The Vice President of Field Operations provides executive leadership for the field operations department within VGM Fulfillment setting strategy aligning resources and ensuring performance outcomes across all warehouse and operational functions.

Summary

The Vice President of Field Operations provides enterprise-wide leadership and strategic direction for all distribution center operations. This role is responsible for designing and optimizing the warehouse network to support business growth scalability and customer expectations. The VP sets long-term strategy oversees capital investments (e.g. automation WMS facility expansion) and ensures alignment across supply chain procurement and customer-facing functions.

The VP establishes performance standards drives cost efficiency at scale and leads continuous improvement and innovation initiatives across all facilities. This role is accountable for overall warehouse performance organizational capability building and ensuring the infrastructure and operating model are positioned to meet future business demands.

Reporting Accountability:SVP of Operations VGM Fulfillment

Working Location:Onsite at VGM Headquarters in Waterloo Iowa daily with frequent travel to remote warehouse locations

Working Hours Classification:Full-Time 40 hours per week

What youll do:

  • Establishes implements and communicates the strategic direction of the organizations field operations division.
  • Provides oversight and leadership of all warehouse and field operations teams ensuring performance targets are met.
  • Build and evolve the organizational structure and leadership capability across warehouse operations ensuring constructive and timely performance evaluations and management in accordance with company policy.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and insights on performance risks and opportunities.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance safety standards and risk mitigation across all facilities.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects.
  • Lead cross-functional integration across supply chain procurement transportation and customer service and more.
  • Identifies recommends and implements new processes technologies and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials.
  • Ensures that departmental decisions for staffing development organization material efficiency hardware acquisitions and facilities are in line with the organizations business plan and vision.
  • Reviews and approves cost-control reports cost estimates and staffing requirements for projects.
  • Drive cost optimization strategies (labor modeling footprint optimization productivity improvements) owning decisions related to staffing structure facilities and adoption of new technologies to support the broader business strategy.
  • Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What will make you successful in the role:

Experience competencies skills and education:

  • 10 years of leadership experience with director-level scope or above.
  • Recent and relevant industry-related experience overseeing and managing large distribution warehouses or multi-site warehouse operations.
  • 7 years managing divisional budgets financials and cost vs. expense models.
  • Proven experience exemplifying continuous improvement (Six Sigma etc.) inventory control and quality standards.
  • Bachelors degree in business administration Logistics Engineering or another industry-related field required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles procedures and best practices in the industry.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Operationofofficeequipment&usingtechnologyefficientlysuchascomputersphones& misc. office equipment.
  • Visualabilitiestoincludereadingdistancevisionandperipheralvision.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
