Job Title: Voter Registration Representative
Job Type: Contract (8-month assignment starting at the beginning of August)
Job Salary: $22-$25/hour
Job Schedule: Variable schedule between 7:00 AM 7:00 PM Monday through Saturday
Job Location: Houston TX 77002
Pre-Employment Requirements: Successful completion of a panel interview background check fingerprinting drug screening and any applicable assessments.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Voter Registration Representative I to support voter registration operations election-related inquiries and administrative processing. This role is ideal for someone with strong data entry skills excellent phone etiquette and the ability to work accurately on detailed repetitive tasks in a fast-paced office environment.
The Voter Registration Representative I will assist with maintaining voter records responding to public inquiries processing voter registration documents safeguarding confidential information and supporting election-related administrative functions.
The ideal candidate is dependable organized and comfortable working on detailed repetitive tasks that require accuracy and confidentiality. This person should have strong customer service skills communicate professionally with the public and be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced office setting.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date voter registration records and ensure information is entered correctly and confidentially.
- Review voter eligibility based on established criteria including citizenship age and residency requirements.
- Perform data entry computer research proofreading and record verification with a high level of accuracy.
- Compare and verify signatures and voter registration documentation.
- Answer incoming calls professionally and provide accurate information regarding elections voter registration voting centers voting hours deadlines and election procedures.
- Respond to voter inquiries via email and determine whether follow-up action is needed such as sending forms updates or additional information.
- Safeguard sensitive voter information in accordance with confidentiality privacy and data protection requirements.
- Process voter registration cancellations privacy opt-out requests voter registration certificates and voter registration applications.
- Provide certified copies of voter registration records in accordance with public information and online records request procedures.
- Research and help resolve registration discrepancies errors or issues requiring additional review.
- Assist with voter-related reports and processing queues including jury reports DPS queues TXOL and felony records.
- Prioritize daily assigned tasks monitor progress and meet processing deadlines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution within the U.S.
- Minimum of 1 year of clerical office experience preferably working with the public or in a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience.
- Minimum typing speed of 35 WPM.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office including Excel Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong data entry skills and excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent phone etiquette and professional communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks meet deadlines and work efficiently with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling customer and voter information.
- Knowledge of election laws and procedures.
- Experience in an administrative clerical records government public service or elections-related environment.
- Experience handling high-volume phone calls emails forms or data entry.
- Primarily office-based role with extensive computer workstation use.
- Work may involve frequent interruptions and a high volume of administrative tasks.
- May require site visits to county facilities and community locations both indoors and outdoors.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends may be required.
- Occasional overnight travel for conferences or training sessions may be required.
- Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods while working at a computer workstation.
- Must be able to transport boxes or equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
Required Skills:
