Job Summary

DESCRIPTION:Southeastern is seeking a highly skilled and passionate paraprofessionalto join our team. The ideal candidate will have acommitment to educational excellence and the ability to inspire and engage students. Southeastern Regional is seeking a vocational paraprofessional with experience in the following industries only:

  • HVAC
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Construction trades (if no specific experience in the previously listed programs)
  • Manufacturing trades (if no specific experience in the previously listed programs)

The vocational paraprofessional works with the shop teacher to ensure that all students are successful in the program. Paraprofessionals provide students with additional support assist the shop teacher in maintaining a safe learning environment and tailor activities to meet students individual addition they must have a genuine passion for working with a diverse student population to help all students succeed. Vocational paraprofessionals may be asked to cover multiple areas throughout the day.

OUR STUDENTS:Southeastern is a diverse multicultural vocational technical high school which serves over 1700 students. The students balance the rigors of a complete academic course of studies with technical skill training in over 20 career majors. Our students are prepared for college career and/or additional technical training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong work ethic a positive attitude and a genuine interest in working with students.
  • Prior experience working as a paraprofessional and/or working with students (preferred not required).
  • Ability to use technology in support of student learning.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications that the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HVAC Plumbing Electrical CSL licenses or experience preferred
  • Construction trades or Manufacturing trades experience preferred

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Supervise Directed Studies sections and keep students on task.
  • Proficient in safely operating hand tools power tools and machinery.
  • Proficient in HVAC Plumbing Electrical construction or manufacturing trades.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and carry out initiatives as assigned by your supervisor(s)
  • Ability to be flexible with job assignments and performance responsibilities
  • Demonstrates commitment to assisting learners in achieving their highest potential.
  • Support learners in the academic classroom to access curriculum-Build positive rapport with students to encourage achievement and effort.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
